Poor dealer installation? What would you do ?
I just had the local car stereo dealer install an Alpine CDA-9886 along with a PAC SWI-X interface kit in my 2008 Enthusiast. They have been in business for a very long time which is why I took it to them.
Before the installation, everything worked fine. I could drive down to the 3rd level of the basement concrete parkade at work and still get good radio reception.
Now, I get fuzzy to really poor reception in my wood garage at home. As soon as I enter the parkade building I loose all radio reception. The only control on the steering wheel that works is the volume.
I called and told them how unhappy I am and they said that they will have another look. But, he said that the radio sound quality was too variable and they likely could do nothing except look for a poor ground.
I told him that the bottom line was that if they couldn't get it all to work properly that I want it removed. Silence on the other end.
Any suggestions as to if I am expecting too much ? Did they just botch the job ? I'm very open to suggestions and comments before I take the car back.

the alpine tuner isnt that great, however, check to make sure he has the antenna wire (solid blue on both harnesses) hooked up, some installers see no power antenna so they assume they dont need htta wire, but in the Z you do, cuase it turns on the antenna amplifier. check on that.
there is no exhcuse as to why the only button that works is the volume, every time i do a swi piece, i do volue up and down, track up and down, mode to change source, and pwr button to mute

Like others said, bring it back and tell them to hook up the power antenna wire, and they should also know how to properly program the steeing wheel controls. If they are a reputable shop I would think that they would check both of those things before they gave your car back.
