Default Quick Question, do you have the answer??

Haha, hopefully this catches the attention of someone in the know. I am just finishing up my audio installation and I found out just right now that my midranges are too deep. I have then on 3/4 inch mdf spacers but it is not enough. I was wondering if midranges in the stock speaker location need to be sealed? If not then the easy fix is to get some washers and push out the speaker a little bit more. Thanks for the help!!

Yes they need to be sealed (or in properly calculated ported enclosures).

An easy fix if all you need is a 1/4 or so would be to add layers of sound deadener between the driver and the spacer to gain the extra mounting depth. If you need more than 3/8", then you are better off cutting another spacer out of 3/8" or thicker stock and adding to your existing spacer.

If you wanted a tighter fit and it was only a few millimeters you could always use ABS plastic and cut it to match the spacer and add a little thickness to your setup or use dynamat.

Thanks for the heads up guys. I think I'll try using the dynamat first because I believe I only need a bit more clearance.

I have the CDT Audio CL-61A-25 PRO components and the mounting depth is supposed to be 2.5 inches. This is off the woofersetc.com website. I ended up using the stock speakers as an additional spacer so with the 3/4 inch mdf spacer the total amount is about 1 inch. I am really surprised by the lack of room behind the speaker. I had to modify the door panel a little bit to accomodate the spacers. I just used a dremel to remove some plastic and everything was fine after that.
