I have a Panasonic head unit with the same auxiliary input as every other aftermarket radio, and I just picked up an 8 gb iPhone. What cable/accessory have you other iPhone owners implemented to listen to your music in the car?

 

I dont know if it helps, but my ipod touch works just fine with an ipod cable in an Avic d3, considering they are exactly the same thing without the phone components one would assume it should work...however, if it doesn't on the old car I just simply used a minijack from the headphone out into the aux of the head unit.

 

Yeah, that is what I assumed too, but tonight an employee of Cartoys told me that the connecting cable is different for the iPhone than it is for the other iPods. He said the only place I could get what I need is in an Apple retail store. But seeing as how I've had bad experiences with Cartoys, I'm just trying to confirm with someone who's actually done it. I did check the Apple website and I found no cable specific to the iPhone to connect it to the head unit.

 

It depends upon whether you're using the dock connector or the headphone jack.

It uses the same dock connector as all other recent iPods.

The headphone jack needs an adapter (or some very careful trimming).

 

I have D3 and I have iPhone and Video iPod both worth the same on the D3. I could never get video to work though.
