Yesterday I picked up a Crossfire VR705D Amp from another member and now I need to buy some speakers to go with it.
Here are the specs for the amp:
5 channel hybrid amplifier
Output Power at 12.5V:
4 x 50W + 1 x 150W @ 4 ohms
4 x 100W + 1 x 300W @ 2 ohms
2 x 200W @ 4 ohms bridged
THD: 0.02%
Bandwidth: 5Hz ∼ 38kHz / 5Hz ∼ 250Hz (+3 dB)
S/N Ratio: >95dB
Damping Factor: >250
Separation: 60dB
Fuse: External 100A
Dimensions: 19" x 9.3" x 2.1" (48.3cm x 23.6cm x 5.3cm)
Typical output with 14.4V is 20% higher.
http://ampguts.realmofexcursion.com/Crossfire_VR705D/
The head unit I have is an Alpine CDA9857. I mainly listen to alternative, like a little bass but nothing overkill, and the Z is a roadster so the sub will need to fit behind the seat. I read that I should buy component speakers but I don't know which ones would go good with this particular amp.
Can you audio gurus give me some suggestions for speakers?
thanks!

AWESOME amp!!! I had that same amp in my Xterra. Crossfire amps are very nicely overbuilt.
As for speakers, there are tons of posts in this forum about speaker recommendations.
What type of music do you listen to? Are you after SQ or SPL? are you putting the speakers in the stock location or are you installing pods or kicks? Do you like warm or bright?

I mainly listen to KROQ alternative music like Muse, Killers, Etc. I'm not sure where I am going to put the speakers. If they fit into the stock location I'll do that but if not I'll get the nazar pods.
I was about to pull the trigger on some Infinity Kappa Perfect 6.1 components but I wasn't sure if they would be a good fit for this amp. For the sub I was thinking about a jl 10w3v2.
I'm a little bit tight on cash because I am still working part time due to school so I can't put a whole lot of money into it. But yeah, any advice is welcome.
Thanks!

Alright, so you are probably looking for tight sound. Given the specs on that amp (and having personal experience with it) you want some efficient speakers to make good use of the available power.
For front components, I would recommend -
Front components:
Diamond Audio D661s
http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...roduct_ID=2715
You can find them cheaper if you look.
Bridge the front and rear channels of the amp and adjust gain as necessary.
Subwoofer:
Zenclosures single 10" under strut box
RE SR10 dual 4ohm coil, bridge to 2ohms
http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...roduct_ID=4906
This will give you a great sounding system for under $550 if you shop around.

ok, so I picked up the diamond audio D661s from the woofersetc. It was actually a place in downtown LA and I just stopped by after work and picked it up. Great price and the person who sold them to me is a member here with a Z. That was cool.
Anyways, looking things over, it appears that I don't know what the hell I am doing. So, I figured I'd ask again.
StreetOC192 said to bridge the bridge the front and rear channels. However, I don't understand these specs:
4 x 50W + 1 x 150W @ 4 ohms
4 x 100W + 1 x 300W @ 2 ohms
2 x 200W @ 4 ohms bridged
If I bridge the front and rears, will it put out 2x200W @4ohms? I'm looking at the amp and I don't understand how you can adjust the ohms. Is the ohm setting based on the speakers themselves or is it an adjustment of the amp?
Another thing. I am going to get the sub enclosure from Nazar but I haven't decided if I am going to go with the JL AUDIO 13Tw5 Subwoofer or the 10W3v3. If I go with the 13 inch sub, I'll need to buy a separate amp. But, if I get the 10w3v3, will this amp be able to push it?
Sorry if my questions sound dumb. I know how to wire everything and install it but I don't know the specs and whatnot
thanks!

This amp will drive both sub. It just might not be pushing the rms power to the subs.
