Default PAC Steering Wheel Controls

I recently had the Pioneer AVH-p4000 installed along with the PAC steering wheel controls. The controls worked real well when I first picked the car up, but now they're only working about half of the time. What might cause this? At times when I go to raise the volume it will actually lower it. I had them set the 'mode' button up to mute the stereo which seldomly works. Any thoughts? I'm going to take the console apart this weekend because I'm wondering if something got moved when I ran the iPod cable to the glovebox.
Can someone please explain the steps involved when programming the PAC part please?
Thanks

Is the situation that it was working, and then you ran the iPod cable, and then you had problems?

Sorry if I am not understanding, but I wasn’t able to determine the exact scenario reading your message.

I lifted the console to run the iPod cable and am wondering if I might've bumped something. I assume the SWIPS works via frequency??
I'll be checking the grounds today...once I find out where they installed the switch.

^^ It certainly sounds like a ground problem, but I'm guessing.
