Exclamation Avic Z1 in cubbyhole

Hey all,

Has anyone ever installed a AVIC deck in the cubbyhole of their 350z and keep the door or had to remove it? I have a AVIC Z1 deck I would like to try and install there. I have combed the forum and havent seen it done, though I have seen alot of people people who throw a 7 inch screen there. How flush would the installation look since it is not flat like where the radio is? Also would I have to more than likely build a front out of bondo to make such an install possible?

There is not enough depth to mount it in the cubby hole without major reconstruction of the center stack. Not worth the effort IMHO.

Agreed. There's only a couple of inches worth of space back there - not the 8 or 9 needed by a full sized deck. Of major concern is the steel support bracket across the top of the dash which you'd have to likely chop out.

I had a hard time fitting the Z2 in the factory radio spot to begin with. That's only because I've got a good 3,345 lbs of wire back there. My suggestion, Z1 in the bottom, 7"er in the cubby
