Default Headunit Suggestions?

I want to replace the stock HU on my 05 enth because i need an ipod hookup. I dont have the money to spend for something like the AVIC-D3 or high end touch screens, something less than $400 preferably. I know some HU can have really poor interfaces so is there any suggestions from anyone about some good ones? I had a pioneer DEH6900 before in one of my trucks and it was a nice looking unit but when going through the ipod there was a small delay in playing songs.

If you are mainly concerned with Ipod control, you should look at Alpine or Kenwood. They seem to have the fastest Ipod interfaces on the market. Every year the new decks get better and better at controlling the Pods. If you don't need a CD drive I would look at the Alpine iDA-X100. It was designed specifically for the Ipod and I have a couple buddies with the older version and they love it.

Thanks, the alpine you linked is nice but at $400 i think it would be better to get something like the Kenwood DDX512 since its around the same price. Im guessing the DDX512 isnt up to par with a high end systems but how is it for its price? ive found a few for $400.

clarion DUZ385SAT. crutchfield is running a decent sale on these. i got this myself and it is not too bad at all. the USB works great with thumb drives also. it also fills the spot jsut right, the install kit with the radio fits like a glove

I've always wanted one, but my main issue is that stereo shops keep telling me I will lose the voice of the Navigation, is this true?

I just purchased and installed this Kenwood DCX 492 Headunit. Not a Bad Price and works for what in needed it for hooking my ipod right up to the front usb. It has a usb and a aux imput right on the front, as you can see in the link that I have a attached. So far so good, all I have to do now is upgrade the speakers and maybe put an amp and a subwoofer and I will be set with my sound system.

Is the loss of navigation voice because the unit does not have a mute feature?
