I was at the airport magazine stand and saw a article on the front page about GPS units on Popular Mechanics June issue .... I don't have GPS in my car but I wouldn't mind having one since it's very helpful during road trips ... we (me and my friend) just did a 12 hours trip from SC and we used TomTom 1 (the lowest TomTom model) ... I was somewhat impressed because it constantly wanted us to take the route she thought was the best ... may be the high end models like the one tested on the article is better ?? .. I don't know...
On the other hand, I have never used Germin Nuvi ... I would like to hear feedback from Germin owners as well ... I have heard Germin has better mapping compare to TomTom ...
Magellan Maestro is a whole new GPS for me ... I don't think I have even seen one ever ... If anyone have this, please post ur experience
so, Which GPS give you the best bang for your buck? which one puts you on the right road fastest when you take a wrong turn?
lets hear your input/experiences ...

I currently have Garmin nav in my Kenwood HU. I previously had a Garmin Nuvi 660, which I absolutely love. I drove from around Louisville, KY to Topsail Island, NC last summer and didn't miss a beat. I even detoured around some road construction beautifully.
I've actually got mine for sale right now if anyone's interested. I'm probably going to do a classified on it, but haven't gotten around to it.
I'd recommend Garmin to anyone.

I have the garmin nuvi.
Only complaint is it often times takes me to places that don't exist anymore or never did like the updates are incorrect. For example I punch in Verizon wireless Store locations and it brings me to a house in a neighborhood that was obviously never a verizon store. Although the newer models will even direct you to gas stations with the lowest prices on gas.

I have the garmin in my Kenwood HU, I really like it, works really well and updated with a SD card. no dvd disc required.
A side not on the Magellan's, they were (stil?) a big name in nautical GPS units, back before when they were only good to 30 square meters. I would go to boat shows with my dad and they always had the biggest displays set up.

^^ Garmin and Megellan were the first companies in the arena, and both in the early years of GPS did handheld and nautical devices. Garmin quickly went on to aviation devices.
Garmin’s advantage is the application software that works so well with their hardware. Garmin is fast (really fast) compared to the competition. The extraordinary performance is one reason Kenwood licenses Garmin software.
