Default Phoenix gold amps

I'm looking at a Phoenix Gold ZX450 for $250 to go with a stealthbox I picked up.

What do you guys think. I'm an audio newb. Also looking for some suggestions on components go with this setup

the PG amp is not bad

you can use it, if you already have it

if your asking if you should buy it for $ 250 , i would say no don't run out and buy it

what size sub are you buying
how many
what impedience
what make sub do you want
sealed or ported
what type music do you like
what is your budget
what are your plans as far as HU, front stage, etc

I have a 350z stealthbox with Two JL 10W3v3-8ohms and am building around these subs

what type music do you like - punk rock, hip hop, techno/trans, acoustic guitar

what is your budget - 200-500 on an amp, want an all in one amp, preferably

what are your plans as far as HU, front stage, etc - current Alpine CDA9855, probably will go for a excelon, maybe .. a DNX8120... that will be a stretch

I'm also looking to replace stock front/back speakers, I want to get something used budget 150-250 for fronts, 100 for back

I just want a good system, don't need a great system, I'm mainly doing this because the stock speakers in the Z are so horrible. I want it to be balanced and I'm not gonna try to wake up the neighbors with it. Mainly I want a clean system. and am looking to spend about a 1000 overall on mostly used gear. I'm against buying new gear.

Should I go with old school gear, I hear that they used to make better everything in the 90's

NOGO on the PG's? I heard these are good amps for that price. Are they ok? Or are they too old?

if you want to drive those subs to their max , they can share 1000 rms

i might suggest a 5 channel amp so you can get it all in one , but yeilding 1000 rms on the dedicated sub channel off a 5 ch ain'y easy

let me think a moment

I was looking for an amp around 200-400 range. The Zapco's retail for 1100-1400. Are they really cheap used?

can't find them anywhere. any other options? I might be ok with a 4 channel amp. I don't care about the rear speakers for now. I might just power them with the head unit for now.

The main issue with that box is that is is wired up to run at 4OHM. Most Mono/Bass amps are made to work at 2OHM. If you run most of those amps at 4OHM you automatically cut the power in half. You best bet is the use a 2 channel amp and bridge that to run a 4OHM load. This will give you that best results. Also that box is really rated at 600 watts rms and 1000 max. The 600 watts is a more realistic number you should look at.
