Default System on a budget

I dont know much about car audio, like what the specs mean on most subs and amps. I want to add some subs to my car and i think two 10's would be nice. I already have a Pioneer AVH-P4000. I dont want to spend alot since i dont need top of the line parts, just something for me to make my system more enjoyable. Im not that big into having the best system possible. On ebay i found some 10" Alpine type Rs for $90 each, and 10" 1500W Pioneer Premier's. Im trying to keep my budget around $500 for 2 10"s, amp, and an enclosure. How are the alpines and pioneers? and does anyone have any amp suggestions?

I know how to install everything but if i could have anyones input on parts id really appreciate it.

Im a fan of alpines..they sound good enough and there cheap. not the best. but they're good for a decent system. i myself have 2 12 inch alpine type Rs..You can usually find alpines with a box in a best buy even though they tend to rip you off, its a good way to sample them..thats what i did..went in.. went to the back and asked him to play em through a few songs.. then i went to a shop and bought them for like 30 bucks less

I'd pick the type-r's over pioneer premiers. Enclosure will probably cost you the most money if you are doing a sub box under the strut. Do you have speakers already?

I agree don't get the pioneer premiers they don't nearly sound as good as the Alpine Type-r's

Pioneer Premiers = they try to get loud, but sound like shi!t

Alpine Type-r's = they get loud, and sound good musically.

Ok thanks, im probably just going to go with the alpines. 2 10's @ $89 each + a Zenclosure and amp should still be pretty cheap. My friend has 2 type Rs in a ranger with a Kenwood 1000W amp. He bought the amp new off ebay for $108. Does that seem good?

I still have the stock speakers in there but i just want some more bass. Im not an audiophile so if i dont have the greatest speakers it doesnt bother me. BUt, are there any cheap alternatives that can give me some better sound out of the speakers because i can notice it if i have it loud. It starts to sound bad.

If you add subs,,,you will want to upgrade stock speakers. A cheap solution would be a set of coax's. Alpine SPS-17C's are a decent speaker and very reasonable. Also,,,Infinity makes a great budget minded 6 1/2 speaker as well. These are just a few examples of many options. Your Infinity or Alpine speakers are pretty easy to locate...FWIW......

Type-E are the lowest models, Type-R are the 2nd to highest model. Pick Type-R over Type-E any day.

you could look at http://www.edesignaudio.com/ where you get "more" for what you pay for.

They have awesome subs at good prices, their 10" is $70 each or you could drop to 3 x 9s. They now offer custom box building too, build to your specs, all you'd have to worry about is an amp.

So what would be a good amp to power the 2 Alpine Type R's? Or should i go with two amps, one for each sub.
