Default Factory Navigation Help

Hi all,

I just purchased an 05 35th Anniversary edition with Nav. The problem is the car didn't come with the dvd-rom. I called around and asked local nissan dealership and they want $750 for just the disc!!! . I called nissan to see if they can replace the disc but they said the warranty is done and they're not able to replace it at all.

1. Can I burn this dvd-rom from any website? If yes, please forward the link. I've searched and found nothing.

2. If I can't burn it, is there any place where I can get it without paying a shitload of cash for a disc?

All help is greatly appreciated.

$750 for the navigation DVD is a total rip-off. That’s disgusting. Can’t you buy upgrade disks for the OEM Clarion navigation device? … If so what does that cost? If Nissan hopes to sell the OEM navigation product, they really need to fix this. I mean… Who would ever buy the OEM navigation if faced with this type of expense? And, that’s not even mentioning that a DVD disk for navigation is outdated technology and lame.

Xanavi (a division of Clarion) is the OEM supplier for Nissan and Infiniti navigation. Maybe they can help.

If the manufacturer refuses any help, then it’s time to start writing letters. Somebody is going to understand your position and dilemma, and provide help.

This is the worst case I’ve heard of.

Can be had for under $200. Make sure you get the right one, a guy on here was selling a version that was for an infiniti. Be careful, I think you need 6.6 version.

You provide great help. That's an affordable upgrade for a marginal DVD navigation system.

Good post,

Kind of pricey if you ask me. Google search what you are looking for and you would be surprised what you find.

When you do get a dvd make sure you make a copy in case something happens to the orig.

Guys, help me out here...

Does the Nissan dealership actually charge $750 for a navigation disc replacement that you can buy for $150 from an authorized seller (apparently Zenrin is the authorized source for this disk)?

I have Map Version 6.3 which came with my 35th Anniversary Z. I'd be more than happy to sell it to you since I no longer use it. I have a Kenwood DDX8019 with Nav which I like better.

I just called around out of curiosity to a couple of local Nissan dealerships, and got the same awful price quote you received for a DVD disk replacement. They (the dealerships I called) claim that Nissan must charge this amount to cover software licensing costs.

There is something terribly wrong here when Zenrin (the software’s publisher) is comfortable at $150 for the DVD disk.

What makes this worse is the fact that DVD-based navigation is old technology replaced by much faster ROM-based flash-drive devices (and very much the industry standard these days).

The dealer I work at and 3 dealers nearby, won't sell the disc's to a customer we refer them straight to Zenrin, Nissan told us to, lol.

thats odd that you buy the car and the dvd rom isnt in there...i would bark at the used car dealership you got your car from....

if they didnt inform you i would think they are liable! heck they might have the disc sitting in a sales mans desk somewhere... if not have them pay the 150 for another...

Yeah, I'd say that they told you the car had navigation but it doesn't work. Free disc.
