Default Blank panel behind driver's seat.

I have an 04 Track and behind the driver's seat is only a blank panel. If I remove the panel what will I find? I don't have the bose system so I know there is no speaker. But is there a mounting plate or something there waiting for a speaker of my choice?

Also, can you remove just the rectangle shaped panel or do you have to remove the entire platic panel behind both seats?

Thanks

You can take a small putty knife and force it into the seam and pop that panel cover off. It comes off relatively easy. I installed a little plastic tab to the cover so I can pull it off and access the huge space back there.

Behind the cover is a metal plate with a 10-12" diameter hole in it that give you access to the compartment under the rear divider. I guess you could mount a speaker in the hole. I believe Wicked CAS (Nazar on the forum) makes a sub mount that fits in that compartment. I think you have to remove the metal plate.

Yes, you can add another glovebox in there. That would require you getting all the necessary parts (for the passenger side), then going through the trouble of taking out all the panels and installing everything, then putting it all back in.

I've taken out all the panels before and it's not exactly fun. You'd have to be careful as some panels are held down by bolts, while most are on by clips (easily broken).

I located a 10" sub in this location, that whats the NiSSan engineers did. Use plenty of dynamat & you can get the bose cover at your local stealerships for $9.95. About a million threads on this topic.

Should you decide to convert it into another glove box, I have some of the parts you seek.

Both sides are the same size...

The above pictures will give you a good idea of what you can do in there.

you can put another glove box in there. You can even get the parts for the door and stuff and make it work.

Not sure about your model, but mine doesn't have the 'support' brackets at the rear of the box that's on the passenger side. Not sure if you can get that, but if you don't, the box *may* rattle if you have stuff in there.

I put a computer in the glovebox I put on the driver's side, so there was no problem there:
