Default TV Tuner Questions

What is needed to have live tv in a car?

What channels do you get with the basic tuner (non satelite)

Will the basic channels be lost with the new digital tv stuff going on.

will this do the trick? http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAu...roductID=16790

First I don't know where Port St. Lucie is ... and lots depends on that. Understand that in every state I know of watching television from the front seats in a moving car is illegal. Mom taught me never to invite the po-po into your life and this falls into that easy pickings for a cop.

What is needed: antenna, tuner, display, speakers. The antenna is the issue as you really do need a big antenna like you see on the top of all the trailer homes. They're not up there for looks - you need that much antenna to get a good picture. You'll also note that they're horizontally polarized - they parallel the earth's surface. The standard tiny vertical whip antenna on a Z is going to give you about -15 to -18 dB compared to a cheap Radio Shack TV antenna. This is going to cut the reception range by huge amounts. Good luck with that. The limos have a "V" shaped wing on there truck - that's for television reception.

Basic channels = whatever is broadcast. I would assume with a big antenna on your house you might get:

WTVX (Channel 34; FORT PIERCE, FL)
WPBF (Channel 25; TEQUESTA, FL)
WTCN-CA (Channel 43; PALM BEACH)
WTCE (Channel 21; FORT PIERCE, FL)
WFGC (Channel 61; PALM BEACH, FL)
WPXP (Channel 67; LAKE WORTH, FL
WPTV (Channel 5; WEST PALM BEACH, FL)
WFLX (Channel 29; WEST PALM BEACH, FL)
WWHB-CA (Channel 15; STUART)
WXEL-TV (Channel 42; WEST PALM BEACH, FL
WOCX-CA (Channel 5; SEBRING, ETC., FL)
W53BS (Channel 53; JUPITER, FL.)
WPEC (Channel 12; WEST PALM BEACH, FL)
W47BG (Channel 47; WEST PALM BEACH, FL)
WWCI-CA (Channel 10; VERO BEACH, FL.)
WFPI-LP (Channel 8; FORT PIERCE, ETC, FL)

Most of those are Christian or educational television stations. And depending on where you park and what direction you face you might see about 1/4 of these. Drive closer to West Palm Beach maybe a few more.

Only the larger metro areas will be going digital early next year. Those educational and Christian stations are not covered by the new law.

thanks for the info. I just saw a "tv tuner" on a website for $50 and figured if that's all i needed i'd just grab one. (i already have a display) but if i need a big ugly ant. forget about it. i agree about the cops being drawn to video in the front. i dont' need anymore attention from them. the exhaust and rims are enough. thanks again.
