Default Finished my trunk, some pics inside...

No it's not a Z, or a Nissan, or even a Asian import, but my roomate has a Z and I've done quite a bit of stereo work for some of the guys on the Northwest forums, so I thought I would share a couple pics of my own car which is currently getting a system overhaul. I finished up the trunk and box, and still need to finish the trim panels for the amp racks and fab up some sort of trim/grills for the door speakers. I've done several vehicles for Kicker, so they hooked me up with some gear to use myself. I wanted to do something simple/easy/cheap due to the fact that I will be removing the gear sometime this winter when I sell my old daily driver and upgrade to something better, then I will install the stuff in that so I don't have to haul all the wieght around in this car. Anyway, here is a list of components and a few pics...

Alpine CDA9813
ADS 336is in kick pods
Kicker 6.5" CVT woofers sealed in the doors, run as midbass
Kicker ZX650.4 half to the ADS, half to the midbass
Kicker 10" L7 subs x3
Kicker ZX750.1 x3

That's a bit more than finishing the trunk!

Damn fine work, buddy! I'm gonna have to come by and give that a listen!

And for those that may have missed it, I'm one of the cars that Pete did work on. You can check it out here.

Hey man!! I still have some work to do, I need to remake the outer trim for the amps as it doesn't really look right to me. Also, the color isn't quite right but the camera flash makes it look much worse than it really is.

Kicker fan are we? Those zx amplifiers put out some raw power. Are that 3 zx1000.1 and a zx650.4?

The install looks very nice, but why did you go with Kicker?? I would have went with Sound Stream or OZ Audio or something with a better sound. Sorry, I am just not a big fan of Kicker. But the install does look good!!

I went with Kicker because I didn't have to pay for any of it, and I wouldn't use Soundstream if they paid me to use it. 10 years ago Soundstream amps sounded great when they weren't broken, but nowadays, (like most companies) they have sold out and have gone with cheap components in order to get a higher profit margin. I was never a fan of the Soundstream speakers, again because they were always broken, and back in the day the turnaround on the warranty claims was more than 4 months. I have used MANY different woofers and amps, and I can say that the Kicker L7 woofers are near the top as far as output and ability to take abuse. They sound better than average too. The Kicker amps make a lot of power and they seem like solid performers but they aren't something that I would recommend to an audiophile. The best customer for Kicker stuff is the guy that wants to spend money to get a loud system that still sounds pretty good, rather than a system that sounds amazing but isn't that loud.

Thanks for the compliments on the install though. I will post more pics when I refinish the amp rack trim.

Not having to pay for it would do it for me too A few years ago I ran OZ Audio Subs with Soundstream amps and I really liked the sound. I have not been into car audio for a few years now and things change over time I guess. Now I just run stock in the Z because I know how much I spent last time I got into car audio. Every time I got something new for the car to make it sound like my house the $$ was getting way crazy. Now I just spend the $$ on my home system and its starting to sound the way I want it to sound with around $17,000 into it so far. And with all that I still need "Toy" money for my Z. As you work with car audio alot you know how much I would have to spend to make my car sound like that I look forward to seeing the rest of your install when you get finnished. Will you be making a Cap rack also??
