Default backup camera on license plate

I am thinking about getting a backup camera and my installer is suggesting using the type that's a license plate mount...

Is this a good idea? He mentioned there is a plate covering the bolt.. I just don't want someone to walk by and rip off the camera easily...http://www.ampleaudio.com/exonicmobile/rearview.html

Is my installer just being lazy??

He also suggested the following MTX components with the Pioneer AVIC 900HU
ront sep........ TX6001
rear...............TDX6502
sub...............T5510-04
sub amp........300XD
4ch amp........504X

what do u guys think of this sys?!?

thanks

You can get security bolts for your plate. I installed mine with regular bolts and it's been fine. They aren't very noticeable. Plus, if someone wanted to steal it, they'd have to cut the wire making it somewhat worthless.

How do you like the appearance of the bolt-on? not really noticeable? how's your camera's night visibility? and the viewing angle?
many thanks!

Get the boyo 420vtl. There won't be a way to rip it off without destroying your bumper. If your installer puts it in properly, he will have to remove the rear bumper. The quality of it is amazing for the price. It is much better than any ebay camera. I have the boyo for my rear and some ebay camera for my front, and my boyo blows it out the water. All I need at night is my reverse lights and I am fine to see. Get the boyo on amazon for like, $85.

that's a great price compare to the Exonic EXR500 my installer wants($240)... great find!
Why would the installer remove the rear bumper? looks like a bolt on piece?

It's the way it is installed. Its a regular bolt, but the way you put it in, there is no way to take it out without removing the whole bumper. I just did the install a few days ago.
