Default Tweeter Question

every one has been telling me to make sure my components have silk tweeters and i was just curious



why silk over the others, what are the + and - of each?

Everyone has a preference. Pick one you can afford and don't look back... until you upgrade.

There's a wide range of materials used for tweeters and any one of them can sound as good as another. Where the biggest problems arise are the cross over points that folks choose to run them. Most folks just buy something and stick it in place, your chances of getting the correct sound are nil.

Any one that says "silk only" has no clue.

Agreed.

Put your music and your ears on the speaker without regards to what the tweeters' cone material is made of - silk, plastic, or metal ... the only difference that is important is the sound to your ears.

I agree with these responses. As Paul (and the other people responding to your thread) point out: It’s not the materials that makeup the tweeters, but rather the sound produced by the tweeter.

Tweeter-position is also very important. There are some who think the stock Sail Panel is the best position for the tweeter, and others who think this is a bad position (favoring the A-Pillars, kicks, or door pods). It really comes down to personal preference.
