Default Thinking about getting a Pioneer

I am looking into getting a Pioneer head unit, used them in the past with my cars and had no issues and good sound.

Now I have an 03 with the ***** bose system. I am not in the mindset to sit there and rewire everything, but have read I can just drop the new head unit in, with some type of adapter, and keep the stock bose amp/speakers.

Just wondering what people think about the pioneer and adapter thing?

I already bought some type of nissan factory mounting kit of ebay, from doubledin to single with a storage box under it...hope it'll work.

thanks in advance

It will work, but the stock speakers will sound the same or slightly better if not worse.

Honestly, your best bet is for a new amp and new speakers, at least fronts.

Thanks silverstone, will I need the adapter thingy or can I just splice the wireharness and call it a day?

I have thought about getting new fronts, any recommendations?

you will need a wiring harness for it. You can splice, but that is ghetto as hell. a wiring harness is only a few dollars.

Like mentioned above, the speakers will still sound bad. Even an inexpensive amp/speaker set up will be a vast improvement.

do it.

I have the shitty Bose system too in my 2006 GT Z. Bought a Alpine X100 and hooked it up normally. Now i have to say that the Bose system sound like how it suppose to. Low and high are clearly noticeable and overall sound quality is much more better.

I didn't buy any adapter or anything.. I just spice the wiring from the Alpine HU to the Bose speakers just like normally would to a non-Bose car.

Make sure to keep the volume down or you will blow the speakers. Sending an amplified signals to the pre-amp on the Bose is not a good idea ... but i did anyways lol, just dont turn the volume up MAX.
Mine has been working great so far.. *knocks on wood*

If I decide to get better speakers what are good replacements? With all the audio builds that I have seen you need to build a pod of some sort to fit the speaker. I want to keep mine looking stock.

Also if I just get new front speakers and an amp will that defiantly inprove the sound quality?

You do not need a pod, it will just sound better if you do have one.

Fronts are the most important in a Z, forget the rear fill. It is a 2 seater LOL

pretty much anything is an improvement over bose speakers. You dont need to spend a lot to have it sound much better....

thanks guys.

I was under the impression I had to buy some adapter gizmo or something...if I can just splice thats great.

From my experience the pioneer premiere series have the best sounding differences between low/mid/hi, which is what I am looking for.

I need to get something in expensive, my stock bose 6disc is doing a michael j fox...

Blue tooth works perfectly, and I got that adapter piece for the bose system so it works...and it does, like a charm.

I too recommend the Pioneer Premier stuff however, I think getting anything from the DEH-P600 and up would be best suited for 'shaping' your sound. Get a proper adaptor and do not wire in direct unless you convert the signal to low level (turn the speaker inputs from the factory deck into RCA's - PM me for info on this).

As was said before though, you should replace the front speakers with at least a basic set of shallow components as they will be MUCH better than the Bose components.

The Bose components make me want to take a rusty pipe and bash a dying Goat's head in and pray that the wailing screams make the baby Jesus cry. Thats just me though.
