I need some expert advice, I had the below stereo items installed a few days ago. Well, I originally had a Rockford Fosgate Power 10 HX2 2 ohm subwoofer (see pic below). It was put in a sealed box of .064 cubic feet and was hooked up to a Rockford Fosgate Power BD1000. Well the installer, had everything hooked up, he was just finishing with vinyling the amp rack and box. So I asked if I could listen to my stereo and see how the sub sounded. I was really expecting solid deep bass and to my amazement, my rear view mirror barely vibrated and you could barely hear the bass. I was so disappointed. Anyway the installer, says that the woofer may have a factory defect or it is not powered enough since the woofer can handle 2000 watts.

Anyway, the installer takes the RF sub out and puts in a JL Audio 10W3, 4 ohm sub, and it sounded 10 times better. Way more bass.

My questions is this, how can the JL10W3 sound way better than a beefcake sub such as Rockfords top of the line sub. Is the sub defective or what?

I have since shipped the sub back where I bought it from, and am getting my $ back minus $54 shipping, grrrrrr.

BTW, I am getting the anniversary edition of the 10W6 in a week or so, I will let you know how it sounds. I will post the pics on Monday once the install is complete.

Any help on this sub would be appreciated.
