Default Can I use my ipod converter with an aftermarket HU?

My buddy gave me his old alpine cde-9843 Head unit and the only thing is that it doesnt have an av input or usb plug for an ipod. I have a ipod converter for my factory radio and was wondering if it will work with the alpine head unit i have. Heres a link to a description for the Alpine head unit and ipod converter i have..
