Default USB Extension...

Just a quick question, I'm not very knowledgeable in audio/video. I'm going to install my Kenwood DDX512 tomorrow and was just thinking about the USB connection. If I wanted to extend the USB connection so I could upload firmware, etc..., would I have to purchase a special USB extension or would a regular USB cable work? TIA

Well you have to do firmware updates via cd or dvd. But to answer your question about the USB, you will need an extention to make it a longer cable if thats what you're trying to do. Here is a pic of my setup. I didn't use an extention cable. Oh and by the way, I have a 6' USB extention cable if you want it.

Thanks for the help, I thought updates would be done through transfers but makes sense now.
