Default Question about amp Remotes (Controllers)

i dont own a Z but i read all of the forums cuz i want one..
anyways, i thought i would pick the brains from the experts
here on the forums. i just bought a new kickerbox setup from
any old lady that made it for her son for grad. he used it for about
6 months then never touched it again cuz he switched to a jeep
and it wouldnt fit. i bought it $50. the lady said it cost her $950
to have the box made. it is a VERY nice setup. dual 12" Kenwood
subs with an Alpine MRV-T500 amp. the actual box is VERY nice
and weighs probably close to 75-80 pounds. the question i have
is what would be a good Remote for the amp. i dont know much
about it bu from what i gather i need to buy a seperate piece of
hardware to be able to indepently control the volume. i am
hooking it up to my factory stereo so there is no sub control on
the stereo. i just want to know, what is a remote? what do they
look like? are they expensive? what is a good brand?

btw, here are some pics of my subs.

sorry about the quality being so bad. i took these with my $20
webcam since i dont own anything resembling a dig camera.
btw, on that last pic... the shiny circle is a CD. that tells you how
huge this sub is.

R u talking about the where there's an input on the amp that sayts REMOTE?! if so, thats to connect the remote wire for the amp to turn on when your HU turns on.

basically...its a wire that carries power from the HU typically to tell the amp...hey, i'm turning on, so you gotta turn on too!

if you are using factory hu, you might wanna find the accessory/12V wire from your factory harness to splice into..which then would turn the amp on when you turn on your ignition. Dont hook it up to a constant 12V line, or else your battery will drain.

if you dont understand..go to this forum...these guys are experts
and can answer more of your questions...or just PM me.

ok...that explains alot.

here is my other problem. how or what do i need to control the volume of the sub independently of the rest of the stereo?

and also, how can i waire it to where i can put a switch in the
amps power source? in other words, where in the wiring can i
put a switch?
