Default Help on deciding new Head Unit x100 vs p4000dvd

I am going to be upgrading my stock non bose head unit soon and i am torn between the alpine x100 (mechless) head unit and the p4000dvd. I really dont care about watching DVD's but there in the same price range new. My main concern is how silly a single din unit will look in the Z I also like the color match the Pioneer offers.

Ok so how is the IPOD interface on the Pioneer p4000dvd? I'm sick of CD's and this would be my primary reason to upgrading to a digital media ready headunit.

So what do you guys think the alpine or the pioneer? I already have a kicker 10" in a under strut box and a 300watt amp. stock fronts with the rear coax speakers disconnected.

I absolutely loathe the new Ipod-only decks from Alpine. They are just poopy IMO. The new 4000 screen from Pioneer is 'ok' but has a very dated and 'Tron-like' background and user interface is just too small for any human fingers to use. Screen quality is ok though. If I were you, I would look at other alternatives like the JVC KW-AVX710 or Kenwood's DDX-512. They are both better values and have nicer features for the price.

I don't mind Tron like backgrounds. I do care about sound quality and primarily the ipod and USB interfaces.

Also i don't want to drop more than $350 on the head unit and both the JVC and the Kennwood are up there

Go with the Pioneer...I have it in my Z and it is amazing. I have an 80GB iPod hooked up as well as a 250GB hard drive, and the files are very easy to navigate. Its by far the best iPod interface I have used on a head unit. The USB I believe only supports .mp3 files...I noticed it doesn't pick up any other file types. No big deal, just put them on your iPod and they will work perfectly. I had an Alpine single din unit in my Z for quite some time before I upgraded to the double din, and I will never go back. You can match the color to the Z's orange lighting perfectly, it looks like it came from the factory with it. Also supports rear-view camera, external monitors, signal processors and a bunch of other stuff. Has a full equalizer too. Sounds great. Don't pay over $350 for it though, you can pick one up on eBay for $330 shipped.
