The only one that I know of (that's not custom made) that looks good is the Metra 99-7402. It sells for about $20. I will be buying mine very soon from Crutchfield since they also carry the wiring harness ($12 in case you're interested). Both come free if you buy a HU from them. Hope this helps. Good luck with your install!

whya re you buying a wiring harness, I was going to do the same thing, BUT after I talked with a friend of mine who is totally into car audio, he says that since I will be ONLY using the RCAs and power/ground/trigger off the stock wiring, you DON'T need to use a wiring harness for that (unless you plan on NOT using a seperate amp)?????

THANX, I will have to check crutchfield out

Default Best Kits

Here is a picture of mine, nice cubby holder also. Paid $21, I believe. Go to www.autosoundgear.com

Also, you do not need the antenna adapter, FYI.

I am buying the wiring harness because I'm doing my upgrade in stages. Besides which, when I do my installs, I always like to have a backup. In case my amp dies, I can simply move 4 speaker plugs and BAM, I have a working HU. It just gives me more versatility...I know I don't NEED them. Plus, the labeled wires make me feel all warm and fuzzy. Hehe.

I'm pretty sure some other company has a dash kit out now, I think AMP, but not sure. I saw it somewhere here.

here it is: AAMP, but looks a lot like the metra. Maybe it fits better though! (although I think the fit issue has to due with a curved dash and flat headunits.)

Rod:
If you want to hold tight, I am getting a new unit with a dash kit from Paul at street Noyz on Wed. , Sept 3rd. He had about 5 different ones to pick from and he and I both like the one I am going to use the best. Many of them look close to being the same except the one I picked just had better fit/less gaps. He is going to match the kit color to the center part of the dash for me. We already did the color matching and install goes in on Wed. If you rememnd me I will take a picture and send it to you, Jeff

I'm sorry guys I hate to poop on your parade, but I havn't found a single kit that looks good in the dash. I've seen quite a few up close installs and NOT ONE OF THEM is impressive. Even the really good jobs look hoakie at best.

Only one stood out it was with this radio by SOny Sony WX-7700MDX supposedly created for the 350z worth a $750.00 pricetag. Even this one isn't perfect, but it's color matched to the interior lighting.

Is the CF-looking piece around the radio part of the radio or also custom? Odd...

Rod:

I did my job and got picks of different dash kits availible for the 350Z. Paul at Street Noyz has a working relationship with a vendor that makes them. He told the vendor what he did not like about some of his existing kits and they changed the kits to incorparate his ideas. You can call Paul (619) 260-1747 and buy them from him if you like. Be aware that the kits come in black and that Paul matched the color of my dash and dyed my kit to match the Z so if you order from him, I strongly suggest you get it dyed to match.

OK, first a pic of my favorite kit of the group thus i got it installed on my Z.

Here is another pic of the same dash kit on my car. It is made by American International #ND-K740. BTW, the color matches perfect. In the pic, I see a little color difference but that is due to surface angle but in person it matches very well.

I am amazed at how much better the Eclipse model # CD5423 sounds compared to the factory head unit. I had everything but the new head unit for months so I can say that the factory head unit does hold back the system.

Here is another dash kit. The main reason I picked the kit I did out of the group is it had the best fit/smallest gaps etc. Everyone likes something a little different so here it is.......
