We only get two models, Touring and Track but both differ slightly to their US counterparts. Both have leather seats and Bose as standard without option. Our Track misses out on the 18" Rays and gets the standard 18" instead. Nav isn't available here and neither is HID. The only difference between the two are wheels (17" Vs 18") Brembos and aero package with the higher spec of the two being the Track. I think that covers it.

Seems everybody has heard from Bose but nobody has heard from Nissan concerning the Bose problem. Since I live only a few miles from Nissan Headquarters, my two buddy's that also own the Z Touring are planning to stand out in front of Nissan's Headquarters with large signs saying Nissan does not back up their products and has to address the stereo problem.
We are planning to be there for 2 hours on September 30th from 7:30 to 9:30am
Hopefully the Nissan Exec's might pay attention. I hope to find more Z owners wiling to be there in Torrance, Ca

Hey, I'm kinda new with this whole thing and bought my car with 7k miles on it. Only 4 months old. It also has the bose system. Should I sign it? Cause I will if it will help you/me out.

Problem solved! At least for me anyway.

3rd time is a charm...

Well boys, I had my dealer make the recent Bose TSB amp replacement. First I must say that I'm FINALLY HAPPY! The bass and treble have depth and the audio pilot works with subtlety. I’m no audiophile by any means, but I am pleased with the results of the last TSB.

I highly recommend this fix to anyone experiencing the Bose problems. Thanks Nissan.
Cheers. -m

You could scratch my name from the petition, got my amp replaced today WOW what a difference pretty incredible. You won't believe what swapping out to this new amp does. I can't say I can ask for more from a stock system. Nissan came through

Not everyone can get the amp replacement. Only a select few that Nissan has decided to fix. See my post on "Bose issue not resolved" and sign the petition. We need to stick together on this or Nissan will use this stragegy on other issues.

The dealership I use has never given me a hard time with any warranty problem, and for that matter Nissan corporate has been very accommodating. It has been a long time to come up with this fix I must admit. I had the first upgrade amp swapped out I guess about eight months ago or so with very little improvement but this one I must say is quite good. So if Nissan keeps the strategy of satisfaction I am okay with that

To possibly help those people that may have trouble getting their amp swapped my repair order stated as per recall #p3140 if this is any help, I never received a letter.

If your Bose vehicle is built before June 11th, then you can get the fix. Otherwise you don't need it since the amp is already applied in production. You are dealing with uninformed individuals. There is not a vast Nissan consiracy against you. You just need to go to a different dealer.

What is the name of the CA person you have been working with (first and last name)?

I was just on the phone with a local dealer here and they said it is only for Z's with VIN's over 104719.

Edit: Just read my post again, sorry it is for Z's with VIN's under 104719. Mine was not eligible because it is 1057xx

My VIN is 114583. Manufactured 03/03. I just had my car in on Saturday for the window grease TSB & replacement of my visors due to some flaws (yes, the replacements have those awful warning labels still). I complained about my Bose & had them check into it. They told me my car was not eligable for the replacement WTF. I'm confused Is it or isn't it? Is this a matter of NNA not comunicating with it's dealers or the fact that most dealer service departments are morons?

Hey Bixby, join the club. Like I have been saying, not everyone with the old amp will get the replacement. I have talked to two dealers and four different people at NNA Consumer Affairs. My vehicle does not apply!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! VIN is # 16549. Even though my amp model is 28060-CD400, the very one that dealers as supposed to return from their inventory to Nissan for a replacement credit. They are to restock with amp # 28060-CE400, the fix amp. When I asked about that with both the dealer and NNA, they had no response.

This is divide and conquer gang!!!!!!!!!

If you got the fix great, I am happy for you, but some of us won't ever get it, period. This should be a recall, but it's not. I wonder why? By doing this they get the heat off and save alot of money in the process. The whole thing stinks and is an indication of how Nissan is going to approach other major problems with this car. The window grease thing is minor, not very expensive to fix, but to replace the amp in every 2003 Touring Z would cost them a bundle. I am sure they are sharing the cost with Bose and therefore Bose is probably in on this half $ss fix. This is my only complaint so far with my Z, even though I have the window grease issue. I can live with a little grease, window cleaner fixes that. But I can't fix the horrible sound system. If they get away with this, watch out, because they will use it again on the tranny issue, the tire feathering issue, and so on to avoid an outright recall. Sign the petition, even if you got the fix. We are all Z owners and everyone's problem Z will sooner or later become our own problem Z.

If there was a petition on the tire feathering I would sign it even though my Z is fine on the tire issue. Enough said.

Why, EXACTLY, does the dealer say your 350Z does not qualify?!?!?
*ALL* 2003 350Z's qualify for the amp replacement (unless they already have the amp).
There are 2 TSBs:
NTB03086 - Pre 09/28/2002
NTB03087 - 09/28/2003 and later (until 06/2003, the last 2003 models)

The confusion is just another reason I think the "show of force" in a petition is necessary.
Despite a few positive comments, I also do not think that a simple amp replacement will make MUCH difference.
Besides, a lot of us have probably already replaced the crappy system.
It is the sales tactics and the pricing scheme that is a major issue here.
I never really wanted the Bose system, but I did want the Touring.
Now that I have ripped out my Bose I am no longer eligible for any compensation?!?!
Bull!
Please sign the Bose petition:

I did not get around to mailing it off this weekend (had too much fun this Halloween).
I will mail it off this upcoming weekend.

Thanks!

He based my disqualification on my VIN (I think) & said the TSB was for cars that experienced the lack of bass response when decelerating or somethig (AudioPilot) so I think he was refering to the 1st TSB. I went in unprepaired & didn't have the TSB info with me so I couldn't really debate with him on the issue. I did make it very clear that the system sucks & that I'd be readdressing later. How can I get a copy of the TSB's? I'd like to have both so that I can present a proper argument.

He should pull the TSBs for you.
You know the numbers, and if he really cared about your business he would realize that's all he needs to know:
NTB03086
NTD03087

Just a note of gratitude to all. This has been one of the most informative threads to date on this forum. I appriciate everyone's input & hard work on this issue.

Now...............
I called the idiot dealer today & went over the TSB's with him. His comment was "I don't have all the TSB's memorized". Keep in mind this is the Service Manager I'm talking too. I explained that I didn't really expect that he would which is why I'm giving him the specific information for the TSB's.

I made him write down all of the info pertaining to both TSB's as well as the specific amp required for the fix (wanted to make sure he ordered the right one) and the VIN's & manufacture dates for both TSB's. Then I provided my VIN & refreshed him on the TSB he rejected me on (086) & advised him that the new TSB (087)was for clarity which is what I am complaining about with regard to my blose system.

Bottom line......... I think he's a little over whelmed. He of course said he wasn't aware of the new TSB (pretty much in line with all the other dealers) but he will call NNA to get it & call me back to make an appointment for replacement. wooo hooo don't have my hopes to high yet but I think persistance will pay off. I'm just not going to stop calling until I have my new amp.

Good luck Bixby, my VIN # is 016549 and I was told the amp replacement did not apply to me. I see that your VIN # is close to mine. I sent a formal E-Mail to NNA after calling them four times on this issue. Was told by return phone call that she would not confirm if my VIN applied but assured me that if I took it to my dealer and let them listen to my system they could diagnose the problem. I was put on hold five times when I would not except her response to my questions. She said the dealer would have to tell me what was wrong with the system, I couldn't tell them. Her name was Gwendolyn. She didn't even know about the customer satisfaction initiative. She asked how I would even know about that and informed her it was on Nissannews.com. Again I was put on hold. This is a joke and I am not a happy camper. Same idiot response when I called the dealer.

Last Nissan product I will ever buy!!!!!!!!!! Spend over $36,000 and get treated like this is not a good thing.
