best place to get a remote turn on signal
ok so this is my drama im no electrical wizard by any means i have the head wired up ,i need to find a place to get a remote turn on signal for my amp ,back up camera as well as two 6.5in screens in the side windows ,...hater vision .... I will entertain any good ideas and thanks you for your help ahead of time , I have seen some people use a switched relay what is it and how does it work ,where to get them and does it make a remote turn on signal ....yes im very green to all this ??? Help please
If you're asking basic questions like this you may want to seek professional installation assistance.
That being said, and with the limited information you gave, I'll try to answer the question as best I can.
Since you said you finished installing the head I would guess that it is an aftermarket unit and, even though you gave us no part number, I would assume it has a remote output (usually a blue/white (amp turn on) wire or a blue wire (power antenna).
These are low current outputs not meant to drive a lot of accessories (just low current amp turn on inputs). If you want all the stuff you listed to turn on when the radio is on you will need a relay. The relay basically takes the low current output and converts it to a high current output. You should be able to buy a standard Bosch style automotive relay at any electronics or automotive store - the price will vary greatly from place to place so you might want to shop around - if they are asking over $10 I would find a different store.
Once you get the relay it will have 4 or 5 pins on it (either one will work).
Pin 85 will connect to ground
Pin 86 will connect to the remote output of the head unit (blue/white or blue wire if no blue/white wire exists).
Pin 30 will connect to a fused high current source (like the battery or ignition)
Pin 87 will be your high current output
Pin 87A (if present) will be left unconnected.
Make sure your fuse is appropriate for the wire you use - for example if you use 20awg wire I would use no more then a 10A fuse. Also fuse the high current relay input (pin 30) as close to the power source as possible - but definately no further then 12" from the source.

yeah im a grad from installer institute and Kpierson hit that perfect!...
and please dont be one of those people that say o their is a small hole in the relay pin ima twist this wire super tite and shub the wire through...
Get some crimps and use connectors and do it right LOL ... ( working on a car today that somone did that )
also after reading this and you have to take notes then it might be a better idea to go find a installer and have him do it.. most private owned shops will let you watch. so pay close attention maybe ask some question then next time it will be a breeze for you...
hoped this helped!

Or even better buy a relay harness - if you go to www.Partsexpress.com or www.delcity.net you can get both a relay and a harness for really cheap.
Or, even better, you can buy a relay (a-spdt) here: http://www.kptechnologies.com/products.php#/7

Im sorry it was late and i was a bit tierd, let me explain better.
the head is installed,i have the harnes adapter,i used all the connections and it works fine not an issue there .
I have an amp that will be powering my mids and highs, wires already ran back to the amp, cables installed ,power and ground complete, just having issues finding a remote turn on signal to power the amp after ignition is in the half turned or on position
the reason why i asked about a relay switch is because the screens i have used only take a hot and a remote turn on as well as a video source as you all wall know . i was wondering if i could use a relay from the amp terminals as well as the power source to run to the screens also, does that make sence, if not then i will just run sep fused blocks for each ,just looking for some ideas, i could jack the remote signal from the stereo adapter but not wanting to have any splices into the wires,im looking for a rather clean install ideas?
i i see now after reading more into what you are saying that i have a good idea as to what i need now thank you guys very much.

You should be getting your remote signal from the harness - that's what it is there for.
I, personally, wouldn't tap in to the amp power cable to run the screens. If you do, make sure you fuse the added line properly as the big fuse on the amp power wire will be way to large for the smaller wire going to the screens.
If it were me, I would wire the amp turn on leads to the remote turn on lead at the head unit. I would then use the vehicles accessory wire to power everything else (through either a 5 or 10A fuse). If you want to use the remote turn on leads for the monitors then I would either hook them up to the remote wire coming out of the head unit or to a 12vdc switch - depending on how you want them to work. I would think a switch would be a good idea so you can shut them off when they arn't needed (which would be most of the time).
