Hey man! I saw you posted in the DIYMA thread about SQ subs asking about DLS as well... well I did some searching on caraudio and msged some dude that had DLS in his car and this is what he said:
Honestly, I think the Iridium subs are among the best I've heard. I own a Critical Mass UL12, Esotar 1200, Morel Ultimo 12", JBL W10GTI MkII's, and also the DLS Iridium's. In that list, I would rank them as second best, behind the Esotar, which costs nearly 3x the amount.
They are extremely crisp, have an awesome punch, and a sweet natural sound due to the cone material. I could see why they win so many awards. They also handle pretty good power while having a pretty shallow mounting depth.
I do like them a lot. If I had to find a flaw, it would be on lower bass notes. The subs have great extension, definately. They can play well down to 20hz, but a combination of a low xmax and natural cone really makes the low notes have "flutter". Atleast to my ears they did. A lot of it will have to do with enclosure design. Other subs which have a larger xmax, will blend the lower notes to give a "smoother" appearance, whereas with the DLS you hear every "flutter" of a slow 20hz sine wave. So, in reality, it may not be a flaw at all. It just really reveals the music in a way you are unused to.
It definately outperforms the Morel and JBL though. It has superior tonality, and will hit every note in the spectrum from 100hz down to 20hz, with an upper smoothness and crisp punch you won't really find in other subs.

By the way, I don't know if that guy's reply was biased as he is selling 2 DLS Iridium 10s... for "around $500"... let me know if you are interested and I can get you two in touch.
edit: also, I found a quote for a brand new one at an authorized dealer in FL for $350..

will do bro. It may be a couple weeks but i wanna start getting some feedback now. With the new headunit and running actively the jl just isnt cutting it, just a little too boomy etc. for the caliber speakers i have in there now. Dont get me wrong its a great sub but just not for my setup right now.

W7 13.5 best sq sub? The W6V2 is a better SQ sub then the W7.
What exactly is wrong with your W6V2? Its a great subwoofer. What are you looking for exactly/goals? I definitely like the IDMAX as well.
Just noticed you said it's too boomy. What about turning the output down?

the JL W7 13.5 suggestion was a joke.
op is not looking for a w7 or idmax or any other spl sub.
he wants a sq sub that is tight, punchy and crystal clear bass reproduction that isnt going to subdue the rest of the system, instead blend perfectly with his dls comps

i didnt know the diyma sub was a sq sub. thought it was more of an spl based speaker
also, the FiQ is 1000w rms... might want to get another amp to handle that

Yeah thats one thing im trying to keep is my 500/1 its a great amp and i dont have a ton of cash flowing right now. I also heard even the FI Q is a little too spl oriented.
Yeah the diyma sub is supposed to be fantastic at sq. I hardly ever listen to rap or anything with much bass. So this makes it a real contender that and its cheaper and takes tiny enclosures to make it sound good.
