Default what is this called

hi all,
new to z's. i'm getting an 03 with non-bose setup and might replace with another head unit. i understand that i prob need to change the center panel to one that accepts after market head units. can you tell me what that is called, so that i can search it?

also, on the stock center panel, what are the dimensions of the opening of the top cubby hole (the compartment for the nav.) i think the actual smaller space for the actual screen is 7", but how large is the larger compartment (with the down-swinging door)

tx

Metra makes a kit (model #99-7402) that allows for double or single-DIN insertion. It basically fills in around the HU.

lol, true. thanks. i found one at amazon for about 20, does that sound right?
still hoping to find a work-around to just get 1/8" aux to head unit and not have to buy brand new head unit, installation, wire cutting etc etc

That's a good price on the Metra. I paid a little bit more than that. You probably won't find any cheaper.
