Default Installing a F700BT. Mic/antenna pics/hints/etc please :)

Hey folks.

I've got a F700BT and all the harness, usb cable, mic , mounting kit, etc.

Ive heard that you can actually put the GPS antenna inside the dash behind the triple gauge pod at the top, how should I secure it if i go this route? If I put it external, I'll probably run it out of the top seam and just put it towards the front of the dash directly infront of the HU.

I'm kinda nervous about running the microphone. I understand the A-pillar just pops off( I dont have side airbags so it should be less of a hassle?), but what about the wire as it runs from the HU to around the HU? Do you stuff it behind the seams, or run it inside the dash behind the main gauge cluster. Please help!

I've done about 4 stereo installs on previous cars, but never a navi before and am kind of nervous about making sure it looks OK and not like a half assed job.

you can run it under the dash near where the steering column is... thats where mine is

no need to remove a-pillars, you can tuck the wire behind them just fine

how much of a PITA is it to remove the otehr dash piece, or did you just snake it through with just the center dash removed? That is pretty much the scariest part of the install for me :P

And for the mic clip, did you just clip it at the top of the a pillar?

also, THANKS for responding. Itching to get this in Putting together my harness now

I am not sure what the reception would be like mounted there, but if you go that route you can mount it just like I mounted my XM antenna. Look in the top right of the dash. The antenna is tie wrapped to that cluster of wires.

Another option is to mount it on the rear strut bar under the plastic cover.

So how hard is it to pull the other dash bit or what is involved in running it behind the main gauge pods?

Like adam said, run it under the steering column. All you have to do is remove a few screws from the lower dash panel and you can easily run the wire over to the base of the A pillar.

Mounted my antenna there, and drove around, works perfect, thanks!
