Amp Recommendation for Focals
Hi Guys,
The courier just arrived with my Pioneer AVH-P6050DVD HU. On the weekend I plan on getting the below components and one of the 2 subs. Now I'm good with auto electrical work and have installed a couple of sound systems but I'm no good with specs for pairing of different components so they all work well together. I looked at the focal and pioneer / amps but as far as I can tell the 4 channel units listed have enough power to run the components but not the sub (remaining 2 channels bridged). Can someone recommend a good amp that will power the 6.5"s and either the 10" or 13" sub or will I need to get 2 amps? Any help would be great!
Components
Focal 100VRS $479 (AUS)
4" slim-fit component speaker set
Maximum power 80W
Nominal power 40W
Sensitivity (2.83 V/1m) 91dB
Frequency response (+/-3dB) 90Hz - 28kHz
Nom. impedance 4 ohms
Tweeter TNB inverted dome
Mounting depth 39.5mm
Sub 1
Focal 27V2 $469 (AUS)
10" subwoofer
Load Sealed
Load Volume 15 - 30 litres
Nominal power 300 W
Maximum power 600 W
Sensitivity (2.83 V/1m) 88 dB
Frequency response (+/-3dB) 35Hz - 500Hz
Nom. impedance 2 x 4 ohms
Magnet Double ferrite (156mm)
Voice coil Double 65 mm
Sub 2
Focal 33V2 $569 (AUS)
13" subwoofer
Load Sealed
Load Volume 25 - 50 litres
Nominal power 400 W
Maximum power 800 W
Sensitivity (2.83 V/1m) 90 dB
Frequency response (+/-3dB) 30Hz - 500Hz
Nom. impedance 2 x 4 ohms
Magnet Double ferrite (156mm)
Voice coil Double 65 mm
Thanks Guys,
JW

Alpine PDX 5 can handle that... it's 2 x 150 watts and 300x1 in bridged mode. I have PDX 4.150 and PDX 1.600 that I didn't install yet but I haven't heard anything but good things about Alpine PDX amps... they are also so small and sexy!!!

So the plan is:
Focal 165 VRS 6.5" comps
Image Dyn IDQ10 D2 10" sub
Alpine PDX 5 amp
Anyone see any dramas with this setup?
Correct Component Specs
Focal 165VRS $549 (AUS)
6.5" slim-fit component speaker set
Maximum power 120W
Nominal power 60W
Sensitivity (2.83 V/1m) 93dB
Frequency response (+/-3dB) 70Hz - 28kHz
Nom. impedance 4 ohms
Tweeter TNB inverted dome
Mounting depth 56mm
Thanks for the help so far guys.

^^ I don’t see any issues/problems with the setup you describe.
So you understand how I base my comments… I currently have these components in my car:
The rear coaxials were mounted just to eliminate the horrible stock Clarion rears, and I have them turned way down (only to provide a little background music while my gps broadcasts voice guidance on the fronts).
The plan is losing the rears and adding a SubW (if I can ever figure out where to mount the SubW and not sacrifice cargo space I need for my golfing addiction).

- Focal 165 V Slim component speakers in the doors (tweeters mounted in the A-Pillars)
- Infinity coaxial speakers in the rear speaker space
- Eclipse 4 Channel Amp Model EA3422

Back again. Well there's only one place in town that sells IDQ10 subs and I was speaking to him about running it off the 300w channel of the PDX 5. He thinks the system would be better run off the PDX4.150 which is 4 x 150w with channels 3-4 bridged to the IDQ10. The only problem is that he hasn't got any of the 2 ohm 10"s only the 4 ohm. Since they are dual voice coil I can only run it at 2 ohm or 8 ohm. He recommended running it at 8 ohm but I thought that would cut the bridged 300w to 150w severely underpowering the sub? What is the problem with running the PDX4.150 with 2 channels bridged to 2 ohm?
