Default ipod video and direct connect to car stereo

for those of you how have direct ipod connection to a stereo such as alpine x300, do you know if you can get simultaneous video output from the ipod (video or 4th gen) while the ipod is connected and controlled by the stereo?

would be nice to have a nice 5-7" lcd display showing the playlist while at the same time controlling the ipod from the stereo.

I am not sure what you are asking mazy. The word simulatneous is throwing me off. Are you asking if an aftermarket H/U will show vidoes that are stored on your iPod? If so then yes. It also sounds like you want to know if you can use the new H/U to navigate your iPod from the units touch screen. If so then yes also. Let me know if you are asking something entirely different.

sorry, i don't think i asked too clearly.
for some reason i thought there was an ipod that would actually have a dedicated analog RCA composite video jack out, in addition to their dock connection.

it seems that there are no ipods with dedicated analog video out.

if they did, i was going to connect ipod to car HU via dock/usb so to have control over the playlist / music, and then at the same time use the analog video out to a gps system with video in, so that i can see my ipod interface.

so this way, i have direct control from my HU, get pure digital out from usb, and get 5-7" ipod displayed from my GPS.

pipe dreams, i know...

i guess i can just get something like this valor 606w but i have no idea how good or durable the HU is... also i was hoping for more of a stealth / hidden look and not advertise to the world. maybe i can install the HU in the place where GPS would have gone? is there enough space up there for this HU?

seems the alpine interface / control is prob better

on second thought, maybe i can get this to send video out:

http://www.autotoys.com/x/product.php?productid=10507

but then again, i'm not sure what happens when i have the ipod docked. would ipod when docked disable video out from the composite video out jack? and if not, does it display the music play list / artist / album while docked? i guess i need to get a hold of a ipod video

Default Nav-TV

A product fitting your "pipe dream" has recently become available in the US. Its a universal mod meaning it works with any car. You must have rca inputs (1 yellow video input & 2 stereo - red & white). Its called VEHICLEDOCK FOR IPOD and its made by Nav-TV. Its so new that the website Navtv.com doesn't even list it in its product offering yet. I was looking to do something similar in my Z and got in contact with a lot of these companys trying to figure it all out. Here are the links:

Product description: http://www.nav.tv/products/vehicledock-ipod?car=169

US version of the company who will sell it to you: http://www.navtv.com

The US company should have this unit in stock and will cost ya $300. I suggest contacting them via telephone.

just a thought...
