only1, I will get shipping info for you today.
I also want to know what you can do for me price wise if I was to purchase your basslink too. I know you wanted 200.00 on your other thread, but you can purchase it for 184.00 online brand new.
I should be able to ship all three to you for less than 40 dollars but I don't know the exact price. I think it should work out to closer to 30 though. I will say less than 40 to be safe. Also, I will sell the sub to you for 190 at the lowest. I am losing money on all this and want to try and minimize that loss if you don't mind. Let me know.
Back on the original topic... Frequently the SQ guys will only have front speakers. They feel rear fill is not necessary or will just mess up the sound stage. My friend has a SQ system in his Tundra and he has rear fill. He though it sounded a little better with it. His rear speakers are turned waaaay down though. You don’t notice that they are even there.
In the Z with the rear speakers so close to the back of the driver I would guess that rear fill would not be very important. You can always start with front speakers and then add new rear speakers if you find it is important. It is really a personal call. I would say listen for a while (at least a few days), with various types of music with the fader settings in different positions just to get a feel. Then go with what you like best.
If you have rear speakers they should mostly just be filler. If you close your eyes and listen the music should sound like it is clearly coming form the front of the car.
I'm not sure how a rear speaker with a tweeter (either separates or coaxial) will sound either. It I would be inclined to think that 4 tweeters in a car that small, and that close to your head would get overpowering. Probably just having a midrange speaker (like the factory has) in the rear is best.
Another thing I would try in the Z is mess with the placement of the front tweeter. They are by the mirror in the stock location. They may contribute to the harsh sound of the stock tweeter in the Bose system. When you get 2 way speakers for the front just Velcro the tweeter around in different spots up front and listen to how you like it best. You may want to leave the tweet in each position for a few days to get a better feel for the sound. I think I will try down in foot well, close to the stock speaker. Like down in the stock kick panels. That would probably be a good place for a slightly more "hot" tweeter like some of MB Quarts tweeters.
Does anybody know the impedance of the rear speakers? Is it 4 ohm or 6 ohm? Sometimes factory systems will have a higher impedance speaker in the back to keep the volume out of the rear speakers down. I was just curious if the Z had this.
