I would put the Focal 165K 6.5 midrange two way speakers. I put them in the rears and they blow my kicker separates away up front.

They sell for $219 locally, but you can get them online for about $135.

www.onlinecarstereo.com sells them

I have the Focals in the rear and the kicker separates up front. They blow the kicker separtes away. I am replacing the Kickers with Focal 165V3E componets next month.

I would recomend you get the focals fro the front and rear. They have great quality sound. Better than MB Quartz in my opinion.

i have been experimenting with this ... i have infinity kappa perfect components at all four corners...

playing with the balance and fade in my z i have discovered the music sounds more natural if the rear speakers are really soft or turned off all the way...anything more than 25% power going to the rear speakers and you can audibly notice a sound difference

more speakers do not necessarily = more loud or more clear!!!!!

i am most likely going to sell my rear components or just keep them as a backup later down the road

I've got 2-way Infinity Kappa's in all four corners, running off deck power, and I'm more than pleased with their sound.

I also have infinity perfect components front and rear- sounds really nice, but my friend that wired the amp only ran it 2 channel instead of 4 so I cant fade the sound foward until I get un-lazy and rip everything apart and run another wire...

I am installing 3 way components in my car. 4" and tweet in the door and 6" in the back, plus a 10" sub.

more power @ 2 ohms but it will run hotter, tho most decent amps oughta run fine.

So the Focals i may get have a max power of 120W and I dont know about the rear (stock) and there is a fosgate amp that powers 4 channels at 125W at 2ohms? Is this ok to go with or would i need more powerful speakers up front and the rear?

Have you though about my JBL Px300.4? It is pretty damn nice and brand new too. I bought it to match up with the Kappas. Also have those Infinity Kappa 63.5i's for sale which are also brand new. Retail for both is 800 bucks. I want to sell both for 350 total. No boxes have even been opened yet. Let me know...

Mr. Potato HEad,
I can get close to that price on Ebay, but would it be 350.00 including shipping? Also, both are unused and in the boxes? This includes 1 set of the 3-way kappas and the amp right?

Yes they are brand new as if you went to the store, bought them, and took them home. I haven't even opened the boxes to see the actual products. They have not even been breathed on. My price does not include shipping but I can get that done very cheap for you through my GF's work. One box, packed extremely well, straight to your door. I really don't need this stuff and I am selling this stuff at a (small) loss. I guess it is the price of indecision. I am going to restore a ZX-R.

The number of ohms has nothing to do with the amp, except for whether the amp can handle it or not. Ohms is a measure of electrical resistance. Many car speakers have typically been 8 ohms or 4 ohms for a long time. 4 ohms is half the resistance, so for the same voltage, draws twice as much currant, making louder sound for the same volume level, but also running your amp that much harder. You don't actually get twice as much volume, you just have a different balance of currant draw and power used. This is why amps will typically have wattage displayed for different resitance loads (i.e. 125W at 8 ohms, 175W at 4 ohms, something like that.)

Speakers at 2 ohms is just another step further. They use even thicker voice coil wire with less resistance, drawing more current, making more noise at the same voltage, and making your amp work even harder. Many lower-end amps aren't even going to support 2 ohms under warranty.

So anyway, coupling BOTH the higher-current (lower-resistance) speakers with a higher-end amp will allow you to have a more foreceful system. Just switching between 4 ohm and 2 ohm speakers on the same amp will have little affect. It will sound louder until you re-equalize it, but the amp will still have the same limits, so there is little net change.
