Default so.. these DTV /HDTV tuners..

this got me thinking

https://secure.freetvsignal.com/view...o=dealOfTheDay

Powered by an external12VDC power supply. A box with this feature might be usable in a vehicle without using a power inverter, depending on output voltage and current type used.
if a decent, small hidden antenna could be used.. and ya got a spare AV in on the double din / dual screen, this could be a sweet, inexpensive tuner.

anyone using one in the car yet?

You'd probably want to use a IR repeater and hide the tuner.

^^ Isn’t this just an analog to digital converter?

Why would you need this since the TV solutions for cars are digital (or going there very soon)?

Obviously I’m missing something here.
