A lot of people (many times other Z owners) will always ask me if my shark fin is aftermarket. I always tell them it's the antenna for the Satellite Radio. I've gotten this question enough to wonder just how uncommon is it to find shark fins on Zs?

I'm assuming the reason why it's uncommon is because I don't believe SAT was offered on 03-05Zs, and became first available for 2006+ and with only certain trims. Here's a pic.

yea i dont think they come standard on any 350z's.....

edit: What trim/year is yours? Mine is an 07 and i dont have it

 

Back in 03 I cut a deal for xm radio. Decided not to do it as I thought the antenna ruined the lines of the car. Back then, people were installing them in the trunk area.

You bought it like this? I have never seen one, I have teh ghey aftermarket black one that has the wire routed into hatch area then to dead space where blose sub would be. It looks nice for sure! (yours)

i put my GPS antenna under the dash... i would do the same with the SAT antenna if I had it. I dont know why any cars have shark fin antennas, to tell you the truth...especially cars like the Z that have a lots of window view to the sky.
