ok i now have the cash to put in a new headunit. i will be tossing out the bose mp3 hu. i am wanting to put in either the IVA-W505 or IVA-W205 (alpine). i am really fond of alpine because of my past systems that had alpine hu's. my question is does anyone have any better suggestions, or any problems with the hu from current owners. i have a budget of 1200 for the HU.

 

I have the iva w205 in my 2006 pathfinder and its good but not great........good quality and features but one problem i have is that i got the portable blackbird 2 nav system that docks in behind the screen and you really have to keep the contacts on the unit free from dust and stuff. If not super clean then the video from the nav comes in all fuzzy and stuff and you have to eject it and clean it for it to work properly. Im currently installing a pioneer z3 in my 2006 350z and I know just from fooling around with the unit on a makeshift test board that I am going to be much happier with the pioneer. I know the pioneer is a bit more expensive but you might be able to find an old stock z1 or z2 for cheap if you look around. no real difference between the z1 to z3 except hard disk space and updated maps and gracenotes info, the interface of the units are the same.
