Default Changing from the oem Bose head unit to a kenwood

I'm thinking about changing from the oem Bose head unit to a Kenwood-dnx8120 or something like that. Anyone experience a change such as poorer quality sound?

Guess I'm a little confused due to the question being a little out there (to me). Reason I'm saying that is that a Kenwood is head and shoulders better in quality than the stock Bose. However, if you plan to JUST switch out the radios you may never here the difference between the two. This is due to the poor quality speakers and etc of the stock system. If you want to know how to have a fantastic system I can help as well as others on this board.

Lol at this question.

I upgraded to a DNX7120 and was smart enough to purchase new components/speakers to complement my headunit.

I don't get why people are willing to spend $1000+ on a headunit without replacing the speakers and adding an amp.

Money is not an issue. I have a problem with taking off the door panels etc for speakers, because ive learned from experience your car interior will never be the same once dissassembled.

Funny. My panels fit tighter and there are no more rattles or resonances due to the eDead V1 I laid under all the panels. Much better than stock.

I understand your concern, but it’s really not an issue with the Z. The Z’s interior panels are built to very close tolerances, and they fit quite well. You can remove and replace panels without worrying about a poor fitment, rattling, etc. after reassembly. I’ve removed and reattached many of the panels in my Z multiple times, and never had a problem.

As Spork points out, you can take advantage of the disassembly by installing sound deadening, improving speaker mounting, etc. He is very correct when he says:

This has been debated and discussed many times here, but replacing the H/U with a better device and leaving the poor quality speakers in place isn’t wise. You will get better features from your new H/U, but the sound won’t improve significantly unless you replace your speakers and add a quality external amplifier.

Since you mention "Money is not an issue.", I suggest taking your project to the next level and replacing the low quality OEM speakers and amp.
