Default New head unit, Radio signal cr@ppy

hey guys, like the title says, I just changed out my stock headunit for a kenwood(dnx-6140) and all of a sudden i got a terrible signal for my radio stations.

I was planning on buying an antenna booster since it seems like that is the solution to the problem but i figured i would ask if anyone else has experienced this and had a fix for it without having to add the antenna booster.

+ im not even sure if the antenna booster is what is needed.

PS ive checked the connections behind the head unit and the antenna is plugged in fine.

Thanks

Edit: **** used the wrong tab to post and realized this is in the wrong section. . . sorryz =(

Sok, mod will move you.

Aftermarket radios always have sh**ty signal as compared to stocks. Some aftermarkets are better than others. But its a fact of life.

The stock radio has an antenna power amplifier. When you replace it with a new headunit, you have to attach the wire that is power amp on the aftermarket headunit to the correct wire on the radio harness. I don't know which one it is off the top of my head, but there are many threads about people having poor radio signal after putting in an aftermarket headunit. Your signal will improve greatly when you have the antenna power amplifier on. Just search for one of the many threads about this.

I do not find this to be a true statement.

i had the same problem for about a month until i finally did the fix, i have a pioneer head unit and i had to solder the antenna amplifier and the power antenna wires into my remote wire coming from my amp that is powering my door speakers. once i connected everything back up it works beautifully. if you arent using an amp just solder or connect those same wires into the power or red wire, and it should work fine

connect the antenna power blue wire with the white stripe..

......

also most aftermarket radio's will not have the same reception as stock radios.. everytime i've had an aftermarket radio it couldn't pick up stations as good as the stock one.. then again most of the stations i used to pick up are about 60 to 120 miles away from where i am.. however the stock radio picked them up perfectly
