I searched and everyone seems to have the old 79xx or 59xx alarms but I just bought the newer Viper 5002 unit today for about $650 installed with glass break and proximity sensors (I have to wait a week to get it installed, the shop says it is a 6-7 hour job because the 08 Z has more complex wiring than the previous years'). Yeah, it's a bit steep but the local shop has a good reputation and Viper requires professional installation for its lifetime warranty.
My question is does anyone else also own the 5002? Also, is it true that overall and proximity sensitivity is adjusted at the main unit? If so, I will need to ask the shop to install it in an easy to reach location so I can get to it.

If im correct thats the new model withe the new remote. I was gonna get that one a couple weeks ago but the installer said its lacking a capability that the old models had so i decided to wait. I cant remember what it was though. Its A very nice unit though and about time they upgraded the remotes

Thanks for the reply. I'm in a bit of a rush to get an alarm because I saw some kids messing around with my car last weekend (they didn't do anything to it, they just were standing around and one tried to lift the car cover) so I'm anxious to get the ringer on ASAP. Also, the 5002 has all the features I need and while the new one will be great, the 5002 will suit my purposes just fine.
