Default Best place to install mic

I just got a pioneer head unit with built in blue tooth. I installed the mic right on the dash. It works great till i go on the high way.....and the road noise makes it difficult for the person on the other end to hear me. Whats the best place to install it? I'm guessing it would be right on the sun visor but that means i have to run the wire under the dash and up the side (a task I don't want to do). I'm guessing the excess noise is due to the vibration of the mic at high speeds....so is there something i can get to put under the stand of the mic to dampen some of the noise?....Something equivalent to dynomat?

I don't know about padding the mic...I haven't tried that yet.

I have tried using the mic in several locations, including where you have yours. The best sound I have acheived was placing it directly above the rearview mirror. Running the wires up to this location was actually a lot easier than I expected (I just pulled the weather stripping out from the door along the A-pillar and ran the wire up to the roof, then just tucked it under the headliner along the windshield to the middle where the mic sticks out right above the rearview mirror).

Mine is to the right of the Driver visor. Still get complaints though of road noise. You may want to try adjusting the mic sensitivity to optimize.

ProperID is right op...directly above the rearview is the correct spot for the mic...i was a mobile installer during the cell phone while driving ban so needless to say we installed tons of bt units that month and way more than usual the months to follow...after lots of trial and error since all cars are different that seemed to be the best spot reguardless of make or model

by directly over the rear view mirror do you mean on the windshield above the rear view or directly on the rear view itself?

I put my mic clipped on the top of the drivers side pillar. Works great so far and semi blends in. No one has noticed till i showed them where it is.

there is a clip on holder the pioneer mic's come with that clip to the headliner gap between the liner and the windshield...so in that spot right over the mirror...usually in the middle of the mirror
