Replaced the entire system (Pioneer/Hertz/basslink)
Just thought I would let folks know who may be contemplating a whole system change. I just replaced my entire system with a Pioneer FH - P800BT head unit and changed the speakers out (front only, disconnected the rears) with Hertz HSK 165's. The blose sub was replaces with the infinity bass link II which fits in the same space as the blose behind the front drivers seat.
I'm really impressed with the results. I had never actually heard the bass link and was going on faith (thanks Jeff Smith from Sound Sensations) and these boards that it would sound good. I (like others) didn't want to give up any trunk space but wanted better quality sound.
Jeff was a good guy to work with. It took pretty much the whole day to put it in but was worth the wait. Looking in the car you can't even tell anything is different other than the HU of course. The OEM speaker grills fit over the Hertz and of course the basslink is hidden also...
Sound is incredible; bass is deep but doesn't "rattle" unless you really crank it.
Thanks to the boards and all my searching it paid off......

Do not have any pic's of the install since as I said Jeff Smith and crew of Sound Sensations in Atlanta installed the system. I dropped the car off at 10:00 and they were done by 6:00. I was not going to try to do this myself. The pioneer unit is the typical double din unit (google it and you can see exactly what it looks like) and looks really good in the car. As stated, you can't even see the Hertz speakers because the OEM grills and the basslink is unseen also.
Jeff suggested this unit and the speakers as we were e-mailing each other and I think they are a good combination for the Z environment. The sound is VERY good and can be "over powering" if you really want to crank it. My wife says it hurts her ears (the highs) if you really push it.
I really did not know what to expect from the basslink but I'm really impressed with it. Reading the boards, I guess and can see how the younger crowd would want "more" but at least to me I think its "more than enough" for what I like but then I'm old "over 30" so, what do I know???

Can you recommend a shop or person in the Langhorne/Levitown Pa. area as i think I remember you saying you used to live here? I love your work and would not hesitate to give my business to someone you endorse!
Thanks
Jerry
Thanks for the info. I called Jeff up and they are installing basically the same thing in my Z Saturday. I elected to go with the original Basslink and added an Alpine amp for the Hertz speakers. I'm very excited to hear it after they are done!
