Default Help me pick a amp and amp kit

Hello,

I just bought this sub

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-kw0Y11x...ures_and_specs

And I also purchased a Zenclosure for a 10" without the amp rack and requested that the cutout diameter match that of this subwoofer.

Anyhow, I need to find a good value amplifier that will make this sub thump but not to the point of it's own destruction.

There is a local dealer also selling this kit, is it a good deal? Do I need it? If it's not good do you guys have any recommendations?

Kicker always makes good amps for the money. I would take a look at them.

^Most definitely. I purchased it from ebay for $150.00 shipped.

They have great customer service and tech specs though, haha. Good looking though, thanks Dave.

Some other people suggested Hifonics.

If you're looking for a descent amp for a low price, HiFonics would be a great choice. Are you running anything other than stock in the front?

I'm selling me Elemental Designs nine.1 amp if you're interested

Not sure what your budget is though.

I haven't bought anything from Crutchfield since my freshman year in high school

For the time being i'm going to be running the horrific stock speakers up front until my taxes come back next year.

Asking $200 plus shipping. I can take pics of it if you're interested because I need to pull it out of my Z. It's been in my Z for awhile with no sub in it

It pushed my W7 nicely and never had one issue with it. Built-in fan, remote gain ****, up to 1200 rms at 1ohm at 12.5V.

Perfect power for the sub you bought

OK, so at least you do intend to upgrade them.

If it's in your budget range, I'd consider the used eD nine.1. It's a very good amp and will be a step up in quality over a new HiFonics at the same price point.

It's been rock solid for me. Love the amp but it's gonna be overkill for my next setup. This will be my third setup for my sub, hopefully my last

^ To be honest, I work at Fry's Electronics so I get a big discount on audio equipment. If I can't find anything comparable to your amp @ 200.00 then I will pick up your amp. I just want to get the best for the money you know?

Unfortunately the sub and box wasn't offered @ Frys so I got em on the internet.

Better get a hell of a discount on it because that's overpriced by far.

My amp is still more powerful

Hmm your amp is really nice though. Is it still covered through the 5 year manu. warranty? Do i need any kind of special wiring or a cap to run this?

Edit:

Haven't gone to work yet but I think all we sell is Hifonics, Kicker, and select Alpines. It's been killing me because I just want to do the setup right lol

lol and I thought my price was good. That's a crazy amount of what it originally costs.

I can't comment about the quality of RF nowadays, I avoided them years ago with their marketing tactics. They made powerful amps back in the day.

It should be, I'd have to check though. I bought it used but it was less than a year old when I got it. I was only running 4 gauge and it worked fine. I didn't have a cap but it did dim the lights some. I'm sure it didn't help that I was running a cheap autozone battery
