Default XM unit install help

I have a 2007 Z with a Kenwood aftermarket HU. I am going to install a Delphi XpressRC XM unit since it was free and need help on mounting locations. Has anyone hooked one of these up and willing to share where it is mounted? I thought about putting it in the cubby above the radio, but I believe I would need to remove the door. Any ideas/suggestions would be appreciated.

The receiver should fit in the upper/forward cubby.

But, this devices uses an FM modulator. That will compromise the sound.

Instead of this, consider buying a directly connected Sirius/XM tuner for your Kenwood H/U. The sound with this setup is better.

I thought about buying the xm kit for my Kenwood HU, but decided to use this since it was given to me. I am going to run it to the aux in on my HU to prevent using the FM modulator. Does the upper cubby door pop out easily? Mine doesn't roll back into the dash like the earlier models and it looks retarded with it open when driving around.

Does the device you were given for free connect to your H/U’s AUX input? I don’t think it does. Sirius/XM devices using direct connect to an H/U use a proprietary connection (not the AUX connector on your H/H).

I believe your free device only uses FM modulation (transmitting to your H/U via the installed antenna and selecting a dedicated FM channel). If that’s the case, and you use an FM modulator for your satellite radio, you can expect a low quality sound.

Thanks. Never-the-less I need a good location to place this unit. Has anyone used it before?
