I have the Kenwood Excelon DNX9140, the price tag is almost $2,000 but that was a few months ago.

I believe it is the best available in the US - best bluetooth integration, best ipod integration, best built in navigation, etc...

Also, if you have an iphone, you can pair it via bluetooth and stream music, search the internet, and take over control of the phone with the head unit. Pretty crazy.

I work at a shop that sells both Kenwood and Alpine, and the Alpine blackbird is scary.

Proprietary and doesn't work well. Alpine should have followed Kenwood's lead and gone with a company who ALREADY produces a good navigation instead of attempting to re-invent the wheel and fail.

 

I have a Kenwood DNX8120 and I want to know if it's possible to swap out the Garmin Nav software for the Magellan software. I had an Eclipse H/U and prefer the Magellan Nav software. Anyone know how to do the swap????

 

It’s not possible. Both devices are proprietary and require software applications written for the specific device.

Just curious… What is it that you do not like about the Garmin software?
