ok I have a GPS which is cool, but I found this online and wondered if it works like it says it does, basicly you down load poi maps that are updated as needed. when your moving around in your car, it 'alerts you' to 'known' speed traps and traffic cameras.

Sounds cool ( I want it), does anyone on here use something like this? I think there are a couple of sites that do this. this is the one I was looking at.

I've seen sites that have those types of coordinates but I've never taken the time/trouble to do it. I guess there would be some benefit if you were going on a cross country trip and passing through areas where speed traps were common.

 

Look up Beltronics GX65 and be amazed.

I consider this as suspicious. Here’s why:

• It depends upon user reporting, which is always suspect as to accuracy. There’s no control and no description of the user-reported qualifications.
• Adding application software to a proprietary device (GPS devices are proprietary) is “hit and miss.” If the software is not supported by the manufacturer, you cannot be sure it works properly, now or into the future.
• Adding POI’s to a GPS database is questionable when it does not come from the original database publisher.

I don’t have direct experience with this product, but my instinct is that it’s not something you want to purchase as long-term buy. Before I paid anything, I would ask for an evaluation copy for a limited area. The company should be able and willing to provide this.

I downloaded to my pioneer, it saves me a couple time.

 

I got the tom tom and it alerts you whenever theirs a speed camera ahead, pretty neat for a basic gps, but then again my V1 lets me know whats up ahead as well
