Help choosing a head unit

Hi, i have been going for a few days now googling and searching this forum. I have not yet come to a conclusion.

I want to replace the head unit with something that will have excellent sound quality (i am into home audio aswell, but don't know much about car audio) I need ipod integration as well as bluetooth for my phone. I am not sure what to look for and what to avoid. DVD playback is not a need for me but if it is part of the whole package it is fine. Navigation would be a nice plus.

In the end i want to replace my whole system.

Any suggestions as to what to look for in car audio and what models specifically? Bear in mind i am in South Africa and won't necessarily be able to get something like the WickedCAS box. My budget in dollars are $1 700 for the whole system.

oh, btw i have the ZR

Please also consider that this is the first time i will be doing an aftermarket sound system, so i really don't know what to consider.
