Default Quick amp wiring question

Hi All,

I'm installing new speakers, sub and amps in my Z at present. I've done numerous installs before but this is the first to use two amps.

Question: I'd assumed that both amps would need to be grounded (ie separate ground wire from each to the same grounding point) but any wiring diagrams I can find show only one of the amps being grounded...Is this correct or should both be grounded as described above?

Thanks,

Davy.

you should use distribution blocks for the power and ground since you have to split both...do some research and go to your local audio shop and ask for them or buy a multi amp install kit...they come with the kit...good luck

There are two types of grounds - power and signal. Signal ground is normally covered with the RCA cables.

I have both of my amplifiers power grounded using a ground distribution block. The block itself is attached to the unibody and has heavy gauge wire coming out to each of the amplifiers. This mirrors the +12 VDC distribution but the positive system has fuses.

Thanks for the replies all.

I do have a multi-amp install kit but the wiring diagram which came with it shows only one amp grounded and the kit includes only a power distribution block - hence my confusion / question.

I'll pick up another block for the ground tomorrow.

Thanks,

Davy.

The second block isn't required and is only for show. You can ground both ground wires to the same point and you'll be fine.
