I just want the answer to my question. I've been through the links and stickys. I'm not being defensive or insecure, you're just being a waste of time by telling me that my 'bose' is made by some other company, I would've asked "who really makes my bose system" if that's what I wanted to know.

Forget it. I'm just gonna wait til spring and look around on Mitchell on-demand. At least they won't judge me or give me a bunch of **** over something that should be simple!

WT_? Ok… forget about that and other minor details, and let’s get going on connecting that remote speaker that broadcasts sound from the Z’s OEM navigation.

Required Tools for the Project:
  • The entire set of Craftsman Wrenches and Sockets (ASA and Metric) Catalog#: 479653789
  • Voltmeter (Analog and Digital), Recommended Device: ACME Voltmeter Model 282828
  • Crowbar (28.5” length) and Catspaw (14.25” length)
  • Flashlight (Police Grade with DD batteries is OK, but an LED headlamp is better. I like the Gander Mountain Model#: S2S3456-2009)
  • As many different screwdrivers as you can get. Gather everything you have and borrow the rest from a neighbor, relative, or any source you can think of. I can’t remember all the sizes or types (Phillips, Blade, etc.), so load up. You don’t want to be in the middle of this project and lack the proper screwdriver.
  • Crimping tool and lots of crimp-wire connectors. Don’t go crazy here. Get the cheapest stuff you can. After all, we are only connecting a few wires and not building an expensive piano here.
  • A bunch of plastic replacement tabs. I ‘m guessing we are going to break a lot of stuff, so we need to have replacements.
  • Adhesive to repair the damage to plastic parts (Liquid Nails for example)
  • Fire Extinguisher (Industrial Grade and not a cheap "kitchen saviour")


Step-by-Step DIY:
  1. Park the car on a flat surface away from any flammable surfaces. You can’t be too careful when messing with electronic stuff.
  2. Roll the windows down all the way. You cannot open the doors after doing the next step if the windows are up. But, you have a crowbar in the tools list, so not to worry here.
  3. Disconnect the ground from the battery. Better yet, disconnect the battery and remove it. You have a 2003 car. You probably need a new battery. And for sure, after we get done here, you will need a new battery, and maybe a second one after we fry the first replacement.
  4. Follow the DIY instruction posted here to remove the center console and tunnel piece; or if you are in a hurry: Open the passenger door, and crawl low along the floor so you see the lower side of the center console. Use your crowbar and catspaw to clear the plastic cover pieces and gain access to the wiring.
  5. You are looking for two wires. One is black with white stripes, and the other is white with black stripes. I cannot remember for sure now. Maybe it is a black wire with white stripes and a second wire that is white with black stripes. I hate having to deal with these details.
  6. Anyway you are looking for two wires that you connect to your add-on speaker to broadcast voice commands from the Z’s OEM GPS while navigating. Once you locate these wires, splice the negative and positive wires of the speaker you plan using to receive voice guidance commands from the Z’s OEM GPS. Since this is sort of a guessing game, good luck.
  7. If you trashed the plastic pieces, use your adhesive to glue everything back in place.
  8. Reconnect your old battery, or install the new battery. For this step, you should be wearing eye protection and an acid resistant suit. You should also have the fire extinguisher handy. It’s likely the car will light-up like a Christmas tree. If that happens (it probably will), you will likely need an entire replacement (a new car).
  9. Done! Good luck, and Congratulations.
If you decide against following these steps (and of course you should since I’m joking), read the Stickys above that tell you how to do what you are asking.

Ok guys. For what it's worth I apologize. This is getting crazy.....all this bickering. If I wanted to argue over stuff I'd go to you tube. I'm sorry Halfass, Kwame and Spike. I'll figure it out on my own, I have access to mitchell on-demand at my friend's shop.

^ I think that is your best bet. I say this in all seriousness but the reality of the situation is you are asking people who have accomplished exactly what you are trying to do and they are telling you exactly what they did and yet your asking how to do it. Obviously there is a breakdown in communication somewhere so perhaps you and your buddy can figure it out in a way that you'll understand. Best of luck.

I’m glad you’ve decided to stick around after all. It’s the new members that make my350z.com enjoyable and a useful resource.

It wasn’t my intention to be mean or confrontational, and I’m sorry you may have taken it that way. Comedy is all about timing, and the timing seemed right for the posting that I intended as humor and nothing else. I was making more fun of myself than trying to goad you. Although, I must say I'm surprised at the number of times you quoted my message and added your replies.

Kwame has cyber-kicked me a couple of times giving me a virtual bloody nose on those occasions when I made statements I was unable to substantiate, but notice that neither he nor I hold a grudge.

No one individual can be a winner in a cyber-fight. On a discussion forum, you are one person who may find themselves in a debate with multiple people from anywhere on the entire planet (my350z.com has over a quarter million members, and 1 or 2 or more thousand viewers at any one time).

The Z car appeals to young males, so there’s a lot of testosterone on the Forum. If you keep that in mind and don’t take yourself too seriously, you will have a great time here.

I'm going to do the research anyway I can. It'll be a few months before I get it apart, I'm just glad to know that it's possible. We have a foot of snow here so My Z isn't going to move for a while anyway. Thanks for all your help and it's nice to know you guys all have a sense of humor too. I'll be here, this car is far more complicated/integrated than anything I've ever owned. I'll need help, but I'll never let anyone else work on my vehicles, no matter what it is, that's always been my policy. Thanks.
