Default 03 navigation issue.. PLEASE HELP!

Hey everyone,
been searching the boards all day, and cant seem to find my issue.

my 03 track non bose navigation just stopped working a while ago, and now that the weather is breaking, its time to figure out the problem.

#1 Im not getting power to the dvd player (or so it seems, as it does not come on, and I cant hear it like I used to) any advice here? wiring diagram?

#2 the switch on the navigation door DOES WORK, as I tested it with a volt meter, and the power to the buttons illuminates them when the lights are turned on for the car.

#3, the dealership sucks ***. and told me to buy the whole new door assembly. which is BS since there is only the switch on that assy. and the switch seems to be good.

where does the DVD player get power from? thats my issue, just dont know where to check, any gurus care to help me out?

thanks in advance!

Hi… I'm sure this is very frustrating for you. The reason you are not receiving responses on your thread is simply because there could be so many reasons for the problem you describe. And, your problem description is short, so someone attempting to answer needs to coax more information from you.
  • Is the navigation unit completely dead?
  • What happens if you insert the DVD?
  • Is the LCD “dead”?
You ask about the availability of a wiring diagram. Do you think you have a loose wire or a problem with the harness? I doubt this is the cause unless you have recently done some mods to your car’s wiring.

It could be something as simple as a fuse, but I’m sure you have checked this.

The navigation “pod” is similar to a computer, and it has a power supply. If that fails, the unit won’t boot up.

I’m adding some additional discussion hoping this will get a few responses for your problem. Please understand that the responses will be mostly guesses.

Does the Navigation unit boot up at all (is there anything on the lcd?)

I had a problem where the DVD unit wasn't reading discs but after I took it apart and re-set all of the ribbon cables in their cheap *** sockets it reads DVD's no problem and as quickly as before. However, my unit would boot up just fine. It would just display a disc read error.

Take the DVD player out and check for power. There are three cables that go into the back of the unit.

One is a white socket, this contains the power leads IIRC. Another is Grey, and the last is a single wire.

You can take the unit out just by pulling off the fascia cover and unbolting with an 8mm small socket. Pull the unit gently forward and unplug the white, grey, and then single wire.

If the screen isn't coming on either, then fuses (Check them ALL), Check for power to the NAV unit in dash, if you are getting power to both devices, then you have your answer.

Before doing any of this download the factory service manual and have the unit do a self diagnosis.

1. Start the engine.
2. Push and hold “MAP” and “D/N” switches simultaneously for 5
seconds or more.
Push the “PREVIOUS” switch and the initial system screen
will be shown.
3. The initial trouble diagnosis screen will be shown, and items
“SELF-DIAGNOSIS” and “CONFIRMATION/ADJUSTMENT” will
become selective.
4. Perform self-diagnosis by selecting the “SELF-DIAGNOSIS”.
Self-diagnosis subdivision screen will be shown and the operation
enters the self-diagnosis mode.
A bar graph shown below the self-diagnosis subdivision
screen indicates progress of the diagnosis.

Hope this helps.
