Looking for some advice.
I just purchased an 2003 with the Bose setup. I'd like to start with a head unit and front speakers. I assume I'm going to have to re wire the entire setup for this. From my very few installs I have done I think I hook up the 12V, neutral and ground for the head unit and that's it.
My question is how do I find the correct 12V wire that only comes on when the key is in the ACC or on position. Back in the day I use to wrap the wire around the end of a fuse and shove it into the slot but I don't want to go that route this time. I see that the wire harness for the Bose setup is $100+ so any ideas on the best way to do this will help. Thanks.

if you were to do a search online you could most likely find a wiring diagram and color guide. the simple testers are just a light bulb that clips to ground and touch the probe end to the wire, when 12v is present the bulb lights up. they are great for fuse testing and simple electrical but once you get into data wires they can pontentially cause damage. your safest bet is a multi meter and they can be fairly cheap for a basic one. if you are looking at rewiring the bose system there are 2 factory amps; one for the sub located with the sub behind the drivers seat and a 2nd for the speakers located in the rear drivers quarter panel in the back corner of the trunk. to eliminate them you would need to run either new speaker wire to the amp harness or to each speaker at its location. if your doing just a basic install you could try an integration harness and leave the speakers and amp alone until you are really ready to take the plunge and do it all properly. that way you could build in stages until it reaches the level you are happy with.
hope that helps

Thanks for the reply. I did a bunch of searches about the bose setup on here but didn't think to look up the wiring diagram. That would be the easiest I think.
