Default Audio Recommendations- HU, Speakers, Amps, Subs, Etc.

Sorry for the previous threads...

I been looking at all kinds of car audio brands- headunits, speakers, amps, subs. There so many kinds maybe you guys can help me narrow it down to small selection. I want some good stuff within my price range. Only thing i know for sure that I want is the Zenclosure (2) 10" subs. $100.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-Headunit- $300 or less? I was looking at the Pioneer AVH-P3200DVD, has 5.8" touch screen, usb, sd, aux, dvd, plus expansion for nav, bluetooth, hd radio, sat.

-Front Components- I want 6.5"'s, nice mid & highs, good bass, 50-100 watts rms, $150 or less?

-Rear 2-way speakers- Same thing mentioned above except $75 or less?

-4-channel amp that will power both front & rear speakers matched with same watts rms. $200 or less?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-(2) 10" Subs. Very tight, deep bass, 300-500 watts rms each, around .75 cu. ft. $100 or less per Sub?

-Mono channel amp that will power both subs matched with same watts rms, $200 or less?

-Would the Sub amp (mono) need a capacitor? If so which one, $100 or less?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm trying to have a nice system but a budget in mind. $1,000 or so plus install.

Thanks!

the prices on the subs/speakers/amps your going to have to double. to be honest, it depends what brands you decided to go with. but it seems like you have done your research and are on a good path to finding what you want. i would recommend boston and alphine for speakers and jl for subs. I have heard a member say there are better speakers for less that out do JL. maybe he will see this post.

^ Not really but will have to increase a little bit. 4 ch mb quartz discuss $189 very stout amp. You can also go with their mono amp very good boards and will last you along time.
pg 6.5rsd comps $80 getting hard to find but sound amazing. Subs you can go with lethal injections 187's there $119 never heard them but a lot ppl swear by them but I would go hgher and get the idq10 by image dynamics for $169 each and skip the rear speakers. Please do not put a cap in your car

The biggest influence in the sound of your system will be the front speakers and next will be the subwoofer. I would most highly recommend that you do double your budget here as suggested. You can spend less if you have to but I would rather see you buy quality once. When you install your headend and amplifiers run the speaker wires for everything. If you're on a tight budget buy and install the front speakers and put off the subwoofers until the next check or two.

You're not going to get instant satisfaction but you'll end up with a better system long term. Going too cheap can be very expensive.

You can skip the rear speakers completely to save that money, I rarely have anyone sit in the back seat anyway.

I'd recommend kick pods or door pods as well. I'm running DLS Iridiums in kick pods with no rear speakers and its plenty loud.

+1 on what Paul said. Going too cheap will normally result in being dissatisfied which means you will probably end up spending more money. It's best to do it right the first time, even it means waiting a little while longer.

I just bought and dropped in a Pioneer AVH-P3200DVD. It's awesome so far. I can't stop playing with it... It's so worth the money!

i have one mtx 9500 10" with a kicker 1000.1. with no capacitor... if it was me i would either get 2 mtx 7500 or 8500 tens or two rockford fosgate 10's and you can also do some kicker 10" its just what ever you prefer.... if you are looking for cheap audio i would go to onlinecarstereo.com they are pretty cheap and have good warrantys. if you get a good name brand amp it will push more than what it says so if you got two tens you could prolly push them with a 350.1 or 500.a would be plenty

Paul350z You dont have to spend a lot on components to have quality sound. There a number of budget units that sound better that items 2x the cost. PPi,cadence and pg just to name a few make units that have been compared to higher level components and have come out on top. Stay away from kicker,jl, mtx etc and all the other mainstream stuff you can put together a nice system for less and sound better.

The onlinecarstereo.com seems a good place. Have everything and good prices.

-Headunit- $300. I decided on this for price & features.

------------------------------------------------------------------

-Front Components- What is the best one out there that fits & under $100?

-Rear 2-way speakers- I know front stage is really what's important but I do like rear speakers. What would be the best or match with the components under $100?

-4-channel amp- What is the best one under $200 that will power the speakers properly. If the components are more watts rms can the amp push more power to two channels & other two channels less to the rears, how is that wired up?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-Enclosure- I thought I wanted the zenclosure now i'm not sure. I just seen this. Custom box that holds (2) 12" with bigger airspace and has more room in the back. Which one think is better- http://cgi.ebay.com/Custom-NISSAN-35...#ht_5338wt_826

-(2) 10" Subs- What is the loudest, deep, tight bass, 10" 4 ohm, 400-500 watts rms, under $100 each?

-Mono channel amp- What is the best to power whatever subs under $200, if you have (2) single 4 ohm subs 500 watts rms. Will a mono amp 500 watts rms X1 @ 2 ohms power 500 watts rms to each sub?

---------------------------------------------

-Capacitor- Scratched that idea.

I agree with this 100%. I'm running Infinitiy Kappa Perfect 6.5 2 way components up front, no rears or subs. Those alone with a good head unit sound 100x better than the stock system, even without a subwoofer. They produce enough output to replace a subwoofer temporarily. I would also recommend doubling your budget on speakers, and putting off the subwoofer untill later if you're on a tight budget.

I can't understand why people "like" rear speakers

Too little of a budget for me to really help and I think it's quite wasteful.

I have to cosign on the budget...by that I mean take some more time and save. I recently upgraded my car audio system and I have to say that it is one of those things that "you get what you pay for".

Since money is an issue I would suggest that you take the phases approach to your audio build. Phase 1 purchase a nice deck, phase 2 nice components + amp.

I personally upgraded my deck about a year ago as I saved and planned what I wanted to do for the car. Then starting in the winter I started buying parts until I had everything. You can do it!

I'm looking at this sub enclosure. It's custom fit that fits 2 12" subs with plexiglass. Pretty sweet.

http://cgi.ebay.com/Custom-NISSAN-35...#ht_3887wt_939

What kind of subwoofers would you use in this box. Looking for something 500 watts rms each. So 1000 watts rms total.

What amp would power two subs like that? Mono amp 500 watts rms x 1 @ 2 ohms work?

What are some good front components to use for the front and that fit well? Want 100 watts rms and what kind of amp?

So really it's better to just disconnect the rears? Not even a decent set of 2-ways to get some surround sound?

I'm trying to do this on a budget but if it goes out of it i can afford it. I just want something really good but not to spend to much.

-Box-$200 max
-Headunit-$300 max
-Components-$150 max
-Rear speakers-$100 max
-4-channel amp-$250 max
-Mono channel amp-$250 max
-Subwoofer $125x2-$250 max

I know i can find something really good within those prices. Try to keep them lower if possible.

Music is not made in surround sound so it is pretty much pointless.

Two 10s in a Z is damn near ridiculous, two 12s would be even more ridiculous. The Z is a small car, it doesn't need THAT much. It will probably drown out your highs more than likely.

My front stage with the amp costs ~$1k, the sub and amp budget I plan on getting is probably around ~$500 total.

In audio, you get worth you pay for... doesn't matter how many speakers you try to add in. Hell, everyone that has heard just my components have been amazed because it's usually the first setup they've heard that was directed for SQ.

I think i might do a full pioneer sound system. I like that everything matches and prices are good and good reviews.

Headunit- Pioneer #AVH-P3200DVD- $320
6-3/4" Front Components (60 rms @ 4 ohm)- Pioneer Premier #TS-D720C- $140
6-3/4" Rear Speakers (60 rms @ 4 ohm)- Pioneer Premier #TS-D702P- $90
12" Subs (DVC 400 rms @ 2 ohm)- Pioneer Premier TS-W1208D2 - $75x2= $150
4-channel amp (60x4 rms @ 4 ohm)- Pioneer #GM-6400F- $150
Mono amp (400x1 rms @ 2 ohm)- Pioneer #GM-D7500M- $140
Custom sealed Enclosure (2) 12's- $175

Total= $1,165 (Can maybe shop around see get this little cheaper)

What do you all think?

^besides H\u and a couple other things pioneer is crap. Let someone more experienced pick out your equipment. Ypur putting the wrong subs in the wrong enclosure, not too mention a prefab ported enclosure that will not bee tuned to those subs. Your buying the wrong ohm load for the speakers you picked not to mention the power also. Plus the equipment. You cant just pick and chose things throw them together and expect it to sound good. I suggest you read, read and read again because your headed down the wrong road and expensive one also. Half the guys on this thread dont know anything about car audio but you cant decipher the difference.

Let me see what I can put together for you keeping as close to your budget as I can. You need to have an open mind though.

Of course it's easy for other people to say "save more" or "you won't get much for your money so why try" or whatever. But to be honest, you can get a system to sound much better than stock for your budget posted here. I'll try to help you out, but I have to run to a meeting this morning.

Let's be real, it doesn't take much to improve over stock. Someone can do something similar to this and spend XXX amount, then hears another system in the same car that spent the same amount but sounds a lot better and end up disappointed

If he fails to take advice, then he's certainly heading down the right path for just that.
